Why vision & hearing screenings matter. 👀
If a child cannot hear or see clearly, it affects so much more than just learning. It shapes how they communicate, engage and experience the world around them.

Early hearing and vision screenings help us:
✔ Identify challenges early – often before they are obvious
✔ Prevent small issues from becoming long-term barriers
✔ Support children to participate fully and confidently.

At Inceba Trust, we partner with and to bring hearing and vision screenings directly into ECD centres in the Drakenstein area.

By reaching children where they are, we can ensure that challenges are picked up early and that children are referred for the support they need.

Because every child deserves the chance to see, hear, learn, and thrive. 💛

Signs a child may have a hearing or vision challenge.
Early signs of hearing or vision challenges are often easy to miss – but they can have a big impact on how a child experiences the world.

Look out for signs like:
• Struggling to follow instructions or respond to sounds
• Sitting very close to objects or squinting often
• Losing focus quickly during activities

These small indicators can point to bigger underlying challenges. When identified early, children can be supported before these challenges affect their confidence, participation, and development.

We are so grateful for our partnership with HearX Foundation and VisionBox Foundation, which gives children in our Drakenstein ECD centres access to hearing & vision screening and support services.
