What will you leave behind?⚜🌍 Legacy is often associated with achievement, recognition or the things we accumulate during our lives. But for SCOUTS South Africa's CEO Wayne du Plessis. legacy is much more than that. 💗
"For generations, Scouts, volunteers, families and supporters have helped build the SA Scout Movement we have today. They gave their time, shared their skills, raised funds, maintained campsites, supported young people and kept Scout Groups going. Most of what we have today exists because someone, years ago, cared enough to make sure it continued. ⚜💜👏
For me, legacy is the people we have influenced. The opportunities we have created. The values we have passed on. The stories our families tell. It is the moments when something we did made someone else’s life a little better, even if we never knew the full impact of it. I have been thinking about this a lot in my role as CEO of SCOUTS South Africa.
Scouting is, in my mind, a Movement built on legacy. There is something quite remarkable about Scouting when you look at it from that perspective. We are not simply an organisation delivering a programme to young people. We are a scarf that stretches across generations. We are all temporary custodians of something bigger than ourselves and we have the responsibility to leave it in a position where the next generation can build on it." ⚜🌱🔨💜

This week is National Wills Week, making it a timely opportunity to think about the legacy we want to leave. One way to help create that future is through legacy giving.
