Zekwande Foundation The Zekwande Foundation was started by the Autistic advocate, Zekwande Mathenjwa in 2021.

The Foundation champions projects and support for nonspeaking autistics. The Zekwande Foundation was started in 2021 to:

Advocate for those who are still trapped in their own bodies

Help the world see nonspeakers as competent

Help the world understand the body mind disconnect

Don’t speak for nonspeakers, teach them to communicate for themselves

Explain nonspeaking Autism from a nonspeaking Au

tistic perspective

Improve representation of Autistic people in Autism Advocacy work

Provide support for nonspeaking Autistics who do not have access to educational facilities and communication mechanisms

Reduce stigma around nonspeaking Autism

Spring is a season of growth, hope, and new beginnings—and we can't think of a better way to celebrate than together.

Join the Zekwande Foundation for our Second Annual Spring Picnic, where nonspeaking autistic individuals, their families, friends, and supporters come together to celebrate community, connection, and possibility.

This special morning is an opportunity to:
• Meet other families on a similar journey
• Celebrate the achievements and voices of nonspeaking autistic individuals
• Raise awareness about communication rights and neurodiversity
• Enjoy a relaxed picnic in the beautiful surroundings of Zita Park

Whether you've been part of the Zekwande family for years or you're joining us for the first time, everyone is welcome.

Date: Saturday, 5th September 2026 (Spring Celebration)
Time: 9:00am - 12:30pm
Venue: Zita Park, Garsfontein, Pretoria

Bring your picnic blanket, your favourite snacks, and your heart for community.

Together, we're creating a future where every voice is heard—even when it isn't spoken.
