Groenkloof Feral Project NPO 334-601 Groenkloof Feral Project is a volunteer-based, community-supported non-profit working to create a safer future for cats in and around Groenkloof, Pretoria.

🍛 Overseeing 19 feeding stations
🐾 Rescue ➕ Rehabilitate ❤️ Rehome We focus on:

🏘 TNR (Trap–Neuter–Return) to reduce the feral cat population humanely

🐾 Rescuing & taming feral-born kittens, giving them a chance at loving homes

❤️ Educating & partnering with the community to end the cycle of suffering

Since our start in 2020, hundreds of cats and kittens have been trapped, sterilised, and either returned to safe colonies or adopted into homes.

Today, we’re celebrating special happy ending! 🥹 A massive thank you to Hendrik for welcoming sweet Matewis (formerly Damien) into your family and giving him the gift of a loving forever home. We couldn’t be happier for this precious boy!

We’re so excited for Matewis to begin this wonderful new chapter, filled with love, comfort and happiness. We hope he and Hermione become the best of companions and share many beautiful memories together. Here’s to a lifetime of purrs, cuddles and happy adventures! 🐾

We’d also like to give a heartfelt shout-out to the fosters who cared for Damien along the way. 💝
Thank you for opening your home, giving him the love and patience he needed, and helping him prepare for this exciting next step. Your kindness played such an important role in his journey to finding his forever family.

Foster homes are the heart of rescue. By offering a safe haven, endless compassion and a little extra love, foster families help vulnerable animals grow, heal and get ready for the wonderful lives they deserve. 🐾 RESCUE UPDATE | 27 SEPTEMBER 2026 🐾

On 27 September, we received a message from a fellow trapper and rescuer who had discovered two more kittens at the same Sunnyside location where cats had been rescued from terrible conditions just days earlier.

Three heartbreakingly had passed away.

Thank you to Marcelia and Marilize for going back, for caring, for speaking up for these little lives, and for helping give them a chance at a safer, kinder future. 💛

It takes compassion to notice.
It takes courage to act.
And it takes a community to change a life. 🐾

The kittens arrived safely at our foster home, where they were bathed, deflea'd and given a warm, safe place to rest. For the first time in a while, they could simply sleep without having to worry about what tomorrow would bring. 🥺

Now begins the next part of their journey — with food, litter, veterinary care, treatment, love and patience as they recover and prepare for the next chapter of their lives.

But every rescue comes with a cost.

💫 ADOPTION UPDATE | COFFEE 💫

Another celebration of black cats — and all the love, laughter and joy they bring into our lives. 🖤

Coffee’s story began on 22 October 2025, when we returned to Sunnyside to release a mother cat after her sterilisation. We set another trap overnight, hoping for good news.

The week before, security had spotted four tiny kittens hiding beneath a staircase. We searched, listened and waited… but they had disappeared without a trace.

Thankfully, one little girl was found. And today, her story looks very different. 🥹💛

Coffee is safe, deeply loved and settling into her forever home — exactly where she belongs.

Her mom recently sent us this update:

“She’s doing well. She really does not like our other cat yet, so we keep them separate when we’re not with them.” 😂

And apparently, Coffee has already discovered one very important advantage of being a cat:

“She’s a better climber than him, so she often spends time on top of the furniture when he’s around.” 😂

We absolutely love hearing that this little black girl is showing her personality and making herself at home.

A heartfelt thank you to Katherine, Josie and Chantelle for the time, patience and love you poured into fostering this darling girl. ❤️

And to the **Bergeson-Lockwoods** — thank you for opening your hearts and home to a kitty from the **Groenkloof Feral Project**, and for seeing the beauty in adopting an adult black cat. 🖤

Buddy (previously named Aslan) has officially found his forever home! 🏡

And we absolutely love hearing that he is settling in so beautifully! His family says:

After 50 days of foster care, love, patience and plenty of growing, Buddy has finally begun his next chapter.

A heartfelt thank you to the Vosloo's for opening your hearts and home to Buddy, a GFP adult kitty. Thank you for giving him the safe, loving forever home he so truly deserves. 🏡🐾

By choosing to adopt a rescue cat, you have changed a life forever while also creating space for us to help even more cats and kittens in need. That ripple effect is what rescue is all about. ❤️

We would also like to give a very special thank you to our incredible foster mom and dad, Gemma & Matt. It truly took a wonderful team of people to help this special boy reach his happily-ever-after. 🥰

✨HAPPY ADOPTION DAY, ALEXANDER! ✨

A huge, heartfelt thank you to the Janse van Rensburg family for opening their hearts and home to sweet Alexander, previously known as Tom. We are absolutely thrilled that this precious boy has finally found his forever family! 🥹

We can’t wait to see Alexander grow, flourish and settle into his new life surrounded by love. We know there are so many happy years , warm cuddles and beautiful memories waiting for him. ✨

A special thank you to Hendrihet and a few caring staff members who fed Alexander while he was living on the streets and reached out to us to help get him to safety. Because of you, his story is very different. 💙

And to Carla and Chantelle — thank you for opening your home and hearts as his foster family. Your love, patience and dedication gave this boy the safe, nurturing space he needed to grow in confidence and prepare for his forever home. 💚

Foster families are such an invaluable part of every rescue journey. They open not only their homes, but also their hearts, time and lives, giving rescued animals the chance to discover what love, safety and belonging feel like. We are incredibly grateful for everything you did for Alexander. 🐾
