South Africans Workers Union (SAWU) supports the National Shutdown on 24 August 2022
The South African Workers Union overwhelming supports the shutdown to be led by SAFTU and will form of the various pickets and march to the Union Buildings.
The shutdown comes as a result of the exorbitant rise in food prices, electricity, petrol and interest rates which has resulted in the high cost of living which affects both the poor and the working class. The agonizing high numbers of unemployment in our country, continuing poverty levels and inequality are an order of the day under the watch of the ANC government led by Cyril Ramaphosa.
SAWU believes that South Africans cannot continue to be quite while our country is thrown to the dogs of white monopoly Capital who continue to benefit under Ramaphosa. WMC is conformable now more than ever and is able to raise the cost of living with ease without any regard of our people and their living conditions. SAWU believes that South Africa must stand up now and support tomorrow's shutdown to send a clear message to the ANC Government and its handlers WMC.
The General Secretary of SAWU,and other officials of the Union will join other progressive forces on the ground tomorrow.
