CONFIRMED NEWS IN | Zimbabwean truck driver sentenced to 20 years for smuggling 1 million rand bombs in South Africa

A 42-year-old Zimbabwean truck driver, Edgar Maroto, was arrested on April 10, 2026, and subsequently sentenced to 20 years in prison on June 11, 2026, for smuggling commercial explosives valued at approximately R1million.

Maroto was stopped on April 10, 2026, while driving a commercial cargo truck into South Africa from Zimbabwe.
