CARDIAC EMERGENCY!

Just before 13:00 the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call from AURA SA that a private ambulance service needed assistance with a patient experiencing a cardiac emergency at a restaurant in the Moreleta Park area of Pretoria East.

On arrival our team assisted the ambulance crew to stabilize and load the patient into the ambulance. The crews transported from scene, planning to meet an Advanced Life Support Paramedic en route to hospital.

CLEAN COMMUNITY PROJECT!

This morning the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit was invited to join SAPS Garsfontein, TMPD Pretorius Park, CPF Garsfontein, City of Tshwane Waste Removal Team, City of Tshwane Parks Department, Brinant Security, Bull Security, and FADT Security to clean up Tweefontein Spruit in the Faerie Glen and Garsfontein areas of Pretoria East.

The team removed a full truckload of waste and removed snares set up for wildlife poaching. One of the team members had mild heat exhaustion and was tended to by the VEMRU members.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT!

At 14:30 the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call for a serious motor vehicle accident on the N4 East under the Simon Vermooten Road in the Equestria area of Pretoria East.

On arrival we found 1 vehicle that collided with the bridge pillar at what appeared to be high speed. 1 patient was found heavily entrapped in the driver seat. On assessment, the patient did not show any signs of life and was declared deceased.

Our members assisted City of Tshwane Firefighters to extricate the patient using specialized hydraulic equipment (Jaws of Life) before handing the scene over to SAPS to investigate the cause of the collision.

We send our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

PEDESTRIAN VEHICLE ACCIDENT!

Just before 15:00 the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call for a baby that was hit by a vehicle in the Lynnwood Glen area of Pretoria East.

On arrival we found the patient on the back seat of a vehicle after being rushed to a nearby procedural hospital. Despite the efforts of multiple practitioners, the injuries sustained were fatal and the patient was declared deceased.

The scene was handed over to SAPS to investigate the tragic incident.

FALL FROM HEIGHT!

Just before 14:00 the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call from Alpha Security Forum for a patient who fell approximately 6 meters through a skylight in the Silverton area of Pretoria.

On arrival with other services, we found 1 patient who sustained critical injuries to their head and chest. While being stabilized by multiple advanced life support paramedics, the decision was made to airlift the patient to a specialist trauma hospital in Johannesburg. A landing zone was set up on a nearby sports field for the Netcare911 Aeromedical helicopter to transport the patient.
