On Heritage Day, Isibani Development Partners partnered with the Wattville Men’s Forum at Wattville Stadium to provide vital health services for elderly community members. The initiative focused on the early detection of TB and other chest-related conditions through digital chest X-rays and health screenings.

The campaign underscored the importance of reaching older populations, who are often more vulnerable to chronic illnesses. Its success was made possible by the dedication of our multidisciplinary team and the support of our partners. We are grateful for their commitment as we continue working towards healthier, empowered communities.

At Isibani Development Partners, we believe that empowering youth starts with meeting their most basic needs. This allows them to step into the classroom with dignity and focus on their future.

We are proud of the Grade 12 learners at Sikhulangemfundo Secondary School who shared how our support has made a difference. With urgent help in securing identity documents, access to TB education, mental health support through social workers, and programmes to prevent teenage pregnancy, learners are better equipped to succeed in school and in life.

We are especially inspired by Ayanda Mzimela from Madlankala Reserve, who shared how something as fundamental as a school uniform can remove barriers to education and restore confidence.

This is the heart of our Adolescents and Young People programme in the King Cetshwayo District: holistic support that enables learners to thrive.

As part of our commitment to the End TB Campaign, the Isibani Development Partners team has been active in the Ekurhuleni District, engaging with local schools and the wider community.

We conducted TB screenings, gathered important health data, and shared key messages on prevention, care, and treatment.

These efforts support the TB Recovery Plan, which aims to significantly reduce TB incidence and mortality in South Africa by 2035. Raising awareness and connecting individuals to care remain critical steps in reaching this goal.

The impact of youth support goes far beyond the classroom.

One of our students expressed her gratitude to the Isibani Development Adolescent and Young People Programme, which supported her and her family during difficult times. From providing school uniforms to offering compassionate counselling, the programme made a real difference.

When we support a young person, we uplift families and strengthen communities.

Thank you to our student for sharing how the Isibani Adolescent and Young People Programme made a difference, kusukela ekunikezeni ama-uniform esikoleni kuya ekusekeleni nge-counselling.

We’d love to hear from you! How has supporting young people in your community made a difference? Share your story or thoughts in the comments.

On 16 June, Isibani Development Partners joined the Youth Day event at Dlangezwa High School, where the KZN Premier led a vibrant celebration of the legacy of 1976.

Our Adolescent and Young People (AYP) Programme was represented by Learner Support Agent Ms Mthiyane and peer educators, who stood proudly at the forefront, delivering a powerful speech, leading performances, and reflecting on the continuing struggle for equity, education, and opportunity.

Their involvement showcased the very heart of our AYP work: creating space for young voices to rise, lead, and thrive.

Today, Isibani Development Partners joins the world in commemorating Global TB Day under the theme "Yes! We Can End TB!" This year, we are proud to be part of the commemoration event in UGU District, KwaZulu-Natal, where we stand together with communities, healthcare workers, and stakeholders to raise awareness and strengthen our collective efforts to eliminate TB.

TB remains one of the leading causes of death in South Africa, with an estimated 270,000 incident cases in 2022. While progress has been made, mortality rates remain high, and we must act now to close the gap.

The National End TB Campaign 2025/26 aims to test 5 million people and diagnose 250,000 new TB cases by focusing on case finding and linkage to care. Together, we can reduce TB incidence by 29% and mortality by 41% by 2035.

Join us in spreading awareness and taking action to end TB!
