Does this Rottweiler belong to you?

Sasha was found in the Rayton area after she showed up at the ARC. The team there immediately started trying to find her family. They asked around, spoke to people in the area, and hoped that someone would recognise her. Unfortunately, no one came forward.

They even tried to keep her with them when her owner couldn't be found, but sadly, that wasn't possible long-term. Now Sasha is in our care, and we are trying to find out who her owner is.

The thing is, Sasha doesn't seem like a dog who has spent her life fending for herself. She appears to have known people and a place to call home. Now she finds herself somewhere unfamiliar, trying to make sense of it all.

Before we begin looking for a new home for her, we want to make absolutely sure that she isn't already someone's beloved pet. If you recognise Sasha, or if she belongs to you, please contact us on 082 677 8086.

Proof of ownership will be required before she is released.

Please share this post far and wide. Somewhere out there may be a family wondering where their dog went.

Sometimes love means letting go, even when it's heartbreaking…

One day, Adelyne, a 10-month-old Africanis, unexpectedly jumped over a wall and into an elderly lady's garden. Most people would probably have tried to find out where she came from. Instead, this lady opened her heart and welcomed her in.

She made sure Adelyne was vaccinated, sterilised, healthy, and cared for. Unfortunately, life had other plans. The lady who had given Adelyne a home was battling a brain tumour, and keeping up became increasingly difficult.

Adelyne had a habit of jumping out of the yard and heading off on little adventures of her own, and despite how much she loved her, the lady eventually realised she could no longer keep Adelyne safe. Making the decision to ask for help was heartbreaking for her.

Adelyne is wonderful with other dogs and quickly found herself a playful friend here at the shelter. We were told she was fantastic with the two-year-old child who regularly visited the lady's home, happily soaking up all the hugs, attention, and toddler chaos that came with it.

The lady who took her in gave her a second chance when she needed one. Now we're hoping someone will give her the forever home she deserves.

If you'd like to meet Adelyne, please contact us on 082 677 8086. If you can't adopt, please share her story. Her future family may be just one share away.

48 people arrived at Wet Nose with hearts ready to give!

There’s something special about watching 48 people arrive at a shelter with one goal in mind - to make life a little brighter for animals who need it most.

This past weekend, an incredible group from TRANCEMISSION spent the day with us, and what a difference they made. Not only did they bring along an amazing donation of nearly 400kg of food and 200 blankets, but they also walked each and every one of our animals.

The food and blankets they donated will go a long way in helping us care for the hundreds of animals who call Wet Nose home, but the kindness they showed our dogs and cats is something that can't be measured in numbers.

To every single member of TRANCEMISSION who joined us, thank you. Your support means more than you know, and our animals felt every bit of it.

She used her birthday to make sure hundreds of shelter animals felt loved.

When Ward Councillor Lida Erasmus celebrated her birthday, she chose to make it about something bigger than herself.

Thanks to her generosity and the support of those around her, she collected an incredible donation of 101 blankets, approximately 100kg of food, and other much-needed supplies for the dogs and cats in our care.

The blankets and beds will provide warmth and comfort during the cold winter months. The food will help keep hungry tummies full.

Lida, thank you for your kindness, your compassion, and for choosing to celebrate your special day by giving back. Thank you to every person who contributed towards this wonderful collection.

Casey and Nova have completed their 2 and a half month journey fighting against TVT. For those who don't kmow what TVT is - is stands for Transmissible Venereal Tumour. It is a sexually transmitted cancer.

They are both healthy and happy dogs now. They are also looking for a home, it can be either together or separately ❤️

If you are interested in adopting them, please contact us on 082 677 8086. If you can’t adopt, then sharing their story helps more than you know.

Gesiggie and Beertjie have already had to say goodbye to two homes…

Two years ago, they lost the owner they loved when the owner sadly passed away. Their world was turned upside down, and they found themselves needing a second chance. Thankfully, that second chance came. Shortly after coming in, they were adopted together and finally got to leave shelter life behind. They became part of a family once again.

Now they are back as their family is immigrating and, unfortunately, they aren't able to take Gesiggie and Beertjie with them.

Gesiggie is the 8-year-old fluffy Dachshund x Pekingese, and Beertjie is the 9-year-old Dachshund x.

They've been through every heartbreak together. When they lost their first owner, they had each other. When they left the shelter and started a new chapter, they had each other. Now, as they try to understand why they've lost another home, they still have each other.

They are a bonded pair in every sense of the word. Their comfort comes from knowing the other one is nearby. They are both sweet, loving little dogs who deserve far more stability than life has given them.

If you can open your heart and home to Gesiggie and Beertjie, please contact us on 082 677 8086. If you can't adopt them, please share their story. Somewhere out there is the person who can give these two best friends the forever home they've been searching for all along.

They packed their belongings and left her behind…

When we received the call about a dog and her puppies being abandoned at a property in Rietfontein, we expected to find scared, shut-down animals who had lost all trust in people. Instead, we found Romi. A 2-year-old Labrador X mom with three healthy puppies by her side and a tail that just would not stop wagging.

The people who had lived there had moved away and simply left them behind. Yet somehow, Romi still greeted us with happiness.

Her puppies were around 8 weeks old when they arrived. Thankfully, they were healthy and thriving. We got them vaccinated, cared for them, and each of them found loving homes of their own.

While her babies packed their bags and left for new adventures, Romi stayed behind. Day after day, she watches people come and go. Through it all, she keeps that same hopeful smile on her face.

She is wonderful with other dogs, absolutely adores human attention, and has one of those personalities that makes you feel welcome the second you meet her. All she really wants is what every dog deserves - a home where she will never have to wonder if she's being left behind again.

If you think Romi could be the missing piece of your family, please contact us on 082 677 8086. If you can't adopt, please share her story. Her puppies got their second chance. Now it's Romi's turn.

She lost her person at 10 years old…

For 10 years, this Dachshund X named Twiggie had a home. She had all the little comforts that come with being part of a family. Then, through no fault of her own, everything changed. Her owner had to move into an old-age home and couldn't take her along.

Now Twiggie finds herself here with us. She is really confused and anxious as to why everything has suddenly changed.

Even though we've moved her into the clinic where she has more space and more attention, she still struggles to settle. She spends much of her day panting and walking back and forth, as if she's searching for the person she's spent the last decade loving.

Despite the change, she still wants every bit of affection she can get. She will also happily, and obviously, accept any treats that come her way.

She's good with other dogs, has shown no reaction to our cats, so she would fit beautifully into almost any family willing to open their heart to an older dog.

What Twiggie needs is a place where she can finally stop pacing, stop searching, and simply know that she belongs again.

If you would like to give Twiggie the second chance she so desperately needs, please contact us on 082 677 8086. If you can't adopt, please share her story. Somewhere out there may be the family who can give this little old lady her happy ending.
