Dear friends of Olof Palme, deed and memory

This is a sad day to remember, when the Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme was murdered in an open place in his birth-town, Stockholm. The Swedish society was never the same after that. But we must also remember this day because of his long and strong deed in the fight for peace, democracy and freedom. Olof Palme was early in raising the fight against the hateful apartheid system as well as protest against the Vietnam war.

This affected us who were young in Sweden - I was then fifteen years old and active in the Social Democratic Youth Association. Olof Palme became increasingly noticed around the world for his international commitment, and as a strong debater for solidarity and justice in the Swedish society, he became chairman for our Social Democratic Party and Prime Minister of Sweden already 1969.

I was with Olof Palme on the election tour in 1973 on my part of the Swedish west coast for a few exciting days and I met him several times. We were proud when Nelson Mandela, long time after Palmes death, chose Sweden for his first trip abroad as President.

We have every reason to stand up and carry on his fight - and great honor for my friend Mr Mulemfo and Olof Palme Peace Institute for their great commitment in the service of peace and democracy!

Best regards

Today, 28 February 2025, Olof Palme's friends - the Palmeists - around the world commemorate the 39th anniversary of his death. Olof Palme was a true dove of peace and a true friend of the world's oppressed. The values of service and sacrifice were ingrained in his life. Let us therefore continue to be ambassadors of peace in his spirit and fight to build the peaceful world he dreamed of and died for.

Today is the 39th anniversary of Olof Palme's last international speech against apartheid at the Swedish People's Parliament in Stockholm on 21 February 1986. It is an important date to remember because the apartheid for which he gave his life ended on 27 April 1994, 8 years later.

Palmeists should emulate Olof Palme's character and attitude at all times to put an end to all forms of discrimination and injustice in the world. Based on his attributes, I am of the opinion that Olof Palme would not have allowed Sweden to be part of the memorandum of understanding that the European Union and Rwanda signed for strategic minerals, knowing full well that Rwanda plunders these strategic minerals from the Democratic Republic of Congo at the cost of millions of lives. This is a fact.

In commemorating this date, Palmeists must vehemently denounce all injustices and human rights violations around the world. Peace must remain the cornerstone of all our efforts. Olof Palme, the dove of peace.

Please watch the link below. It's heartbreaking 💔 to see that Sweden, Olof Palme's country has remained silent on the EU signing a memorandum of understanding with a genocidal country like Rwanda for strategic raw materials, knowing full well that Rwanda has plundered these strategic raw materials in eastern DRC to the detriment of the loss of life of millions of Congolese. This world without Olof Palme will never be the same again because his own country or the organisations that speak of him have failed to live up to his legacy 😭😭😭! The EU behaviour will continue to harden the views of many Africans including myself that many Europeans will remain colonialists at the exception of the people like Olof Palme.

Today, 30 January, is Olof Palme's 98th birthday. To all Palmeists, I ask that we continue to celebrate the life of the Dove of Peace🌹🌹❤️❤️ even though his native Sweden has long since betrayed and undermined his legacy of peace in joining NATO. Peace was the very essence of his existence on this planet earth, and it was for peace that he sacrificed his life to improve the lives of all.

Olof Palme, all peacemakers will miss you forever, especially at a time when war-mongers around the world are at work and believe that the use of the different types of weapons and ammunition are the answer to lasting peace. You are gone but not forgotten 👏🏻!

Pierre Schori’s comment to the Nobel Peace Prize:

Is it a coincidence that two of this year's Nobel Prizes come with a reminder of dictatorship and mass death?Literature laureate Han Kang has written two books about military massacres and police brutality against students and workers in her country, South Korea, and was for a time blacklisted as a critic of the regime. She announced that there was no reason to celebrate. “The war between Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Palestine is cruel, people die every day. How can you celebrate a Nobel Prize in Literature?” she is quoted as saying by her father Han Seung-won.The peace prize awarded to the Japanese grassroots movement Nihon Hidankyo with survivors of the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 was at the same time a desperate cry and a fateful warning from the victims of the ultimate weapon of destruction that some foolishly call a “nuclear umbrella”.“In this way, the survivors contribute to maintaining the nuclear taboo - a prerequisite for a peaceful future for humanity,” Jørgen Watne Frydnes of the Norwegian Nobel Committee told the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, adding: ”We want to emphasize to the world that these weapons are immoral.”The chairman of the Nihon Hidankyo organization, Toshiyuki Mimaki, urged the world to continue working to abolish the weapons. “If Russia uses them against Ukraine, or Israel against Gaza, it will not stop.” He also compared Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the current situation in Gaza.In his remarks, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres recalled that nuclear weapons remain a clear and present danger to humanity and that they reappear in daily international rhetoric: “It is high time that world leaders realize that nuclear weapons are a weapon of death that does not offer safety, protection or security. The only way to eliminate nuclear threats is to eliminate them altogether.”Guterres added that never since the worst days of the Cold War has the nuclear sabre-rattling been so evident as now.Unfortunately, Sweden is also participating in this by abandoning its long history of struggle for total and mutual nuclear disarmament, a struggle that earned Alva Myrdal, Sweden's Minister for Disarmament, the Nobel Peace Prize in 1982.Pierre Schori

“Palme was a man a leader who was very strong, Palme used to say that when there is war we all have to stay calm and be able to have a dialogue, when a war starts none of us know what is the cause what is good and what is bad for this we have to keep our distance and carried with peace and patience, the war does not want anger or savages, it needs patience to see where things started and where we will end, Palme would never respect what you do today social democracy" he would never send weapons to kill other people who are not guilty of anything, Palme would go and see exactly what is happening between the two countries and the rest of Europe and NATO. Palme once said that NATO and Europe are the same thing, Palme will always be in our hearts and always as long as we live, RIP 🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹❤️ (Georgia Hassiakis, 28 February 2022)”
