Open Day 2026🍂🌤️ 🍀

On the chilly autumn morning of 9 May 2026, the NWU hosted its annaul open day to show prospective matrics that "It All Starts Here" 💜 🦅

Our little stall in the corner of Wasgoedpennetjie Lane saw plenty of foot traffic. Students, old and new, were told about our mission, our projects, and our fun little adventures by the enthusiastic executives of 2026. We hope to spot the matriculants we spoke to on campus in the coming years, sporting their hand made "hout" couture Green Team wooden bead bracelets. 🪵

Happy Earth Day 2026! 🌎 🤍

Tell us your favorite thing about the Earth in the comments secrion! 🕊️

Today the students of Potch paid tribute to the best planet in the entire solar system. They created a piece of art that represents how every person has an effect on this earth, no matter how big or small 👍 ✨
With their green thumbs and fingers, they also planted a small tree in the library grass gardens, once again giving back to the Earth for all it gives us 🍃 🌊 🌅
This tree will hopefully one day provide not only shade for much needed study-breaks during the summer months, but also a constant reminder that when working together, creating change becomes that much easier...

We like it... PICASSO🎨🖌️🍾

Such a fun way it was to unwind before the daunting Semester Tests. Our Glass Bottle Painting event allowed students to embrace their creativity and lay down the books for an evening of art and connectedness💚✨

Glass bottle painting not only destresses and centres the mind, but also helps the environment by reusing old glass bottles, instead of having them end up in a pile of rubbish♻️

Brighting up your res room/flat with vibrant colours when the sunshine hits it on the windowsill is the best bonus though 🌈😏

Another PAWS Haven outreach completed, with hopefully many more to come🥹

No better way to spend that awkward 2 and a half hour break between classes than in the fresh air of a dirt road with a dog on a leash, or chilling in the shade with cats and kittens surrounding you💚

Every animal at PAWS Haven looks at you with nothing but love and admiration... Except maybe a kitten or two fascinated by their new toy, or a saucer of milk😜😻

Your perfect match is waiting for you, all you have to do is go find them! 🐾🥹💚

What do you get when you toss a mountain of litter, black bags, a group of unsung heroes, and the Green Team into a bucket and mix?

The collab with and was a huge success. 💪🏉🏇
Without their compassion for their local community and CSE projects, a change would not have been made today.
Together with the Green Team, they tirelessly worked away their Thursday morning by picking up astounding amounts of wrongly discarded trash.

The amount of rubbish collected today emphasizes the dire need of appropriate waste disposal systems in local communities. It is up to the students of today who are our leaders of tomorrow to see these problems and effectively implement solutions. Together, we can make a change. Together we can pave a greener future. 🤝💚🌳🚮

Our projects are filled with laughter, teamwork, friendship, unconditional support, pure strength (Jess with her Pickaxe😉) and sometimes interesting music choices😂💚

Come Rain or Shine.... The Green Team will Plant a Tree🌦️☔🪱🌳

This past week many brave members of the Green Team braved the unpredictable Potchefstroom weather and dug deep... Literally...😉

Through some slipping and sliding, and getting their hands dirty, they managed to plant 3 beautiful little trees in the Heilige Akker Neighborhood. These trees will one day provide shade for the children and grandchildren of the residents in their playground, as well as offer shade and refuge on the bicycle course/veld for not only the residents, but birds, insects and citters as well. 🐦🐿️🐛
The Green Team strives to combine sustainability and green-living with fun, adventure and lifelong memories.💚

Our motto for the day was "Buy a Plant, Plant a Tree" and without your support, our funds for our tree planting project would not look as good as they do now😍🌲
