HAPPY CHILD PROTECTION WEEK - LOVE AND PROTECT THEM NOW TO AVOID TOMORROW'S REGRETS.

It was a very productive week from 25th -29th of May 2026, where all stakeholders came together for one objective. The purpose was well served and the objective have definitely been achieved. With stakeholders from the following organizations, SANDF, DOH, DBE, TLM,DSD, TADS,FAMSA, ASSMANG(BEESHOEK) AND KOLOMELA MINE child protection initiative rollout was a success, from the planning to ex*****on ,every person from the task team played their role diligently.

The CHILD PROTECTION awareness was planned for all registered ECD's around Postmasburg including Maremane, Jenheaven, and Groenwater. We are hoping to reach the bigger number in the future.

Different activies was presented as part of information for making children aware of their surroundings and how to be cognitive of things that are uncomfortable. Hygiene was a topical part of it, followed by substance and how they cause domestic violence, and making sure that they understand how to protect themselves from triggering unruly strangers or uncomfortable home background. The interaction of the little ones was amazing, they could even ask questions and share scenarios. It was indeed a great pleasure sharing all this relevant information with the children alongside the child protection message that was shared with Kolomela employees during the gate activation on Friday. We are hoping that the message was well received and will be well received from all ends, as well the grasping of the information from the little ones.

Let us work together to protect our children by:

• Creating safe spaces for open communication
• Reporting abuse and neglect
• Supporting treatment and prevention programmes

For 3 days we proudly hosted a successful awareness programme in commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking across schools in the Tsantsabane , Gamagara and Kgatelopele municipalities.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders, schools, educators, community partners, and learners who participated and contributed to making the programme a success. Your presence, support, and active involvement in the day’s activities helped strengthen the message of prevention, awareness, and positive living among our youth.

Through educational talks and interactive activities, learners were empowered with valuable knowledge about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of making healthy life choices.

Together, we continue to build safer, healthier, and drug-free communities. Thank you for standing with us in the fight against substance abuse.

FASD Awareness Event – Deben 📍
Yesterday we hosted an impactful Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) awareness session in Deben, attended by key stakeholders and pregnant women from the community.

The session created a safe and informative space to discuss the dangers of alcohol use during pregnancy and the lifelong effects it can have on unborn children. By engaging directly with expecting mothers and stakeholders, we are strengthening prevention efforts and promoting healthier choices for both mothers and their babies.
We appreciate the valuable participation and commitment shown by everyone who attended.

Together, we continue to build a more informed and supportive community. 💙
