This Youth Day, we came together with our communities to reflect, celebrate, and listen to voices across generations.

We joined the Field Band celebration in Danielskuil and the Nqoba Ulutsha Fundraising Soccer Tournament in Lime Acres, where young people shared their energy, talent, and spirit in inspiring ways.

As part of the day, we asked community members of different ages one important question:

If the youth of 1976 could see today's youth, what do you think they would be proud of — and what do you think would still concern them?

Watch what our community had to say.

At the Lesedi Solar Park Trust, we recognise that securing a young person's future means investing early. That's why our work is cradle to career — because giving a child a strong start means that by the time they reach youth, they're thriving, enabled, and able to realize their full potential as citizens.

This Youth Day, we celebrate all young people, and we commemorate the youth who, 50 years ago, stood up to power and demanded change. We honour the resilience and energy that helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

Happy Youth Day.

As we begin Youth Week and mark 50 years since the June 16, 1976, Uprising, we remember the young people who stood up for change and helped shape South Africa's future.

Today, many young people in our community's face challenges such as unemployment, limited opportunities, and concerns about their future. At the same time, many are working hard, speaking up, and looking for ways to make a difference in their communities.

Question: Do you think today’s youth have the same spirit and determination as the youth of 1976? Whether you are a young person or older, what is your one wish for the youth of South Africa? .

Supporting Learners Starts with Parents

Lesedi Solar Park Trust recently attended a parental engagement session hosted through the Accelerated Learning Project (ALP) at Assmang Primary School in Postmasburg.

The session brought together parents of learners receiving additional literacy and numeracy support through the programme. Parents learned more about the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach, which helps learners of grade 4 to grade 6 build foundational skills by meeting them at their current learning level and supporting their progress step by step.

A highlight of the session was the parent's pledge, where parents committed to supporting their children's learning journey at home by encouraging reading, learning, and growth.

The session reinforced the important role that parents, schools, and communities play in helping children overcome learning challenges and reach their full potential.

The TaRL programme is currently implemented at Assmang Primary School, H.T.T. Bidi Memorial Primary School, Danielskuil Intermediate School, Postdene Primary, De Kuil Primary, and Refentse Primary School.

Together, we can help every child build the skills they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

Who is looking out for our children?

While Child Protection Week may have come to an end, the responsibility of protecting children continues every day.

In our latest article, Mary Boer from the Kgatelopele Social Development Forum (KSDF) shares why keeping children safe is not only the responsibility of parents, teachers, social workers, or the police, but of entire communities.

From supporting vulnerable children to creating safe spaces where they can learn, grow, and thrive, Mary's message is simple: every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported.

Creating meaningful change takes all of us.

On 27 and 28 May, the Lesedi Solar Park Trust brought together community members, local leaders, NGOs, schools, government representatives, and service providers in Postmasburg and Danielskuil to discuss the realities facing our communities.

Over the coming week, we'll be sharing the key priorities that emerged from these sessions and inviting you to join the conversation through polls and reflections.

Even if you weren't there, your voice matters.
