How does Genesis Gyms help and how did it all begin?🌱👇
Genesis Community Gyms began in 2005 as a response to a growing need in our community. With high unemployment, gang activity, and limited opportunities for young people, many young men and teenagers were vulnerable to being drawn into destructive lifestyles.
The first gym was opened in the Merlewood area as a safe place where young people could spend their time, build positive relationships, and hear the Word of God through daily devotions. What started as a simple outreach ministry quickly became a place of refuge, growth, and hope.
Today, the gym operates from the Norwegian Settlers Church property and welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds. Many members face financial hardship, so we remain committed to keeping the gym accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
More than twenty years later, Genesis Community Gyms continues to provide a safe and supportive environment where people can grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually, meeting a need that remains as important today as when the ministry first began.🙌
