1st Cotswold Scout Group sends its deepest, most heartfelt condolences to St Columba and to Scotty’s cherished family.
From the days we were wide-eyed Cubs and mischievous Scouts, right through to the time we got to stand alongside him as Scouters, Scotty’s passion and unshakeable spirit left a lasting impression on us all.
He was never one to soften his views or back down when he believed something mattered. He was opinionated, passionate and always ready with the final word. We came to treasure that fire in him. The way he guided us with conviction and direction, often seeing the bigger picture from the smallest, seemingly irrelevant things.
He poured every bit of his heart into Scouting.
He will forever have our utmost gratitude for all he has done for the movement and the inspiration to carry the values of Scouting outside of the movement, into our everyday lives.
It feels as though he has walked every step of the way with us, his strong presence has been such a big part of our Scouting journey.
He shared so much of himself with so many and the lives he touched will carry his influence forever.
You will be profoundly missed, dear Scotty. Rest easy now.
