Last night the The Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth hosted the Rotary Egg Man, Dr Hari Kishan Valmiki from the Rotary Club of Secunderabad in India who shared his vision of “ending malnutrition one egg at a time.”

As part of his visit to Gqeberha, Rotarians visited 3 local organisations caring for and supporting children, learning more about the important work they do in our community and exploring how the Rotary Egg Bank initiative could make a meaningful difference.

It was a privilege to welcome our District Governor, DG on The Move Melonie Gobel to The Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth yesterday.

Before our club meeting, we visited Ithemba Special Needs Centre, one of our community projects, where we are excited to be planning the installation of a borehole and solar power system to provide a more reliable and sustainable future.

At our evening club meeting, DG Melonie shared a memorable message using the six strings of a guitar as an illustration of Rotary. Just as a single string only reaches its full potential when it is part of a guitar, every Rotarian matters. Together, we form a club that serves its community, supported by strong leadership, our District, The Rotary Foundation, and Rotary International. It was a powerful reminder that while each of us has a role to play, our greatest impact comes when we work together.

We were also reminded of the incredible global reach of Rotary, with hundreds of millions of dollars invested each year in projects that change lives around the world.

Last night The Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth inducted Phindile Nama as its 88th President. We thank Immediate Past President Regina Kasongo for a great year!

Another Rotary year is about to come to an end. Our outgoing President Regina Kasongo has started a new century of service from The Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth on a high note.

We look forward to inducting our new President for 2026-2027, Phindile Nama on 30 June. We look forward to a year in which we will Create Lasting Impact!

The The Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth was chartered on 25 April 1925, marking a century of service in 2025. This past week, it was wonderful to celebrate the club’s 101st birthday with past, current and future members 🎉

And it’s a wrap of the 2 day Rotary International District 9370 Discon 2026!

The first session of the day was focussed on the Youth and Youth activities. A particularly inspiring talk was given by Rotary Youth Exchange District 9370 South Africa exchange student, Troy Champion.

The second session’s stand out moment was undoubtedly the powerful and uplifting talk by Kim van Kets.

After an afternoon to rest and recharge, the conference ended with a memorable gala evening. A wonderful close to an enriching and inspiring weekend.

What a wonderful first day of the Rotary District 9370 conference at Mpekweni!

From our amazing guest speakers - Jonathan Goldberg, AD Birrell, and Thembelihle Ngcai — each bringing powerful perspectives that sparked thought and meaningful conversation.

It was equally uplifting to hear about the impactful projects and fundraising initiatives taking place across our district, a true reminder of the difference Rotary continues to make in our communities.

We wrapped up the evening with a beautiful dinner celebrating Africa.
