⚜️ Gone Home – Martin “Scotty” De Bruyn⚜️

Some people simply become part of the fabric of Scouting. Scotty was one of those people.

Perhaps SCOTTY says a little about the man we will remember:

S – SCOUTING
Very definitely part of his DNA.

C – COMMITMENT
To something he truly believed in.

O – OUTDOORS
Where many adventures and memories were shared.

T – TEACHING
Always willing to share his knowledge and experience.

T – TIME
Generously given to Scouting and to others.

Y – YOUTH
The young people whose lives were richer because Scotty was part of their Scouting journey.

Scotty certainly Made a Difference and has left some rather large hiking boot prints on many hearts.

To Liz, his family, friends and the wider Scouting family, 1st Walmer Scout Group extends our heartfelt condolences.

One hundred years of 1st Walmer! 🤩

It started with one Wolf Cub Pack in 1926, and somehow, a century later, they’re still going.

There have been different halls, different uniforms, and thousands of young people through the doors, but the friendships, the adventures, and the spirit of helping others have stayed.

Happy 100th, 1st Walmer 🎉

As parents, we all wonder whether our children will find their place. A space where they are accepted, supported, and able to thrive. For families of autistic and neurodivergent children, that question carries even deeper meaning.

At SCOUTS South Africa, inclusion isn’t just an idea. It’s part of who we are. Through shared experiences, supportive peer groups, and values-driven programmes, young people are given the space to grow in their own way, at their own pace.
