Junior City Council - Port Elizabeth

Today, the Junior City Council had the privilege of visiting Inn Safe Hands to donate hygiene essentials to young girls in need. 💙

This initiative, organised by our Head of Youth Development, Mihle Mfikile, aimed to promote dignity and confidence by providing hygiene kits containing sanitary pads, soap, face cloths, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

During our visit, we had the honour of hearing from the founder of Inn Safe Hands, who shared the inspiring journey of how the organisation was established and the meaningful impact it continues to have in our community. It was a powerful reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting difference.

In honour of Mandela Day, yesterday we had the privilege of handing out food parcels and blankets to members of the KwaZakhele 1 community with the support of the NPO, Ubomi Obutsha.

This act of service truly brought joy to our hearts as we witnessed the gratitude and happiness on the faces of those we were able to assist. It reminded us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

As we celebrate the legacy of Nelson Mandela, let us continue to live by his values of compassion, service, and unity not only on Mandela Day, but every day. Together, we can help build stronger and more caring communities.

Giving back to our community! 💙

The Head of Youth Development, Mihle Mfikile, from Andrew Rabie High School, together with fellow Junior City Councillors Milla Terblanche from Cape Recife High School and Cazlyn Bennett from St Dominic’s Priory School, proudly delivered hygiene kits to Project Hope from Word of Faith. These donations will help support participants at their upcoming leadership camp.

Junior City Council Visit to Mosaic Home 🇿🇦✨

​On February 20th 2026, the Junior City Council (JCC) had the privilege of visiting Mosaic Home in Walmer Link for an afternoon dedicated to community development and youth mentorship.

​Our goal was to move beyond a simple visit by implementing a structured, multi-station program designed to engage children across all age groups.

From 15:30 to 17:00, our councillors facilitated several key developmental activities:
​🎨 Wall painting & decoration
​🍪 Marie biscuit decorating
​🎶 Kindermusik & Musical chairs
​⚽ Outdoor games
​✨ Vision boards
​🎨 Arts and Crafts

​The Impact:
By mobilizing the Broader JCC, Youth Development Portfolio, and Andrew Rabie JCCs, we were able to provide a high ratio of mentorship to each child. This initiative was about more than just resources; it was about fostering a sense of belonging and inspiring the next generation of leaders at Mosaic Home.

On 13 February 2026, our Junior Mayor, Olisa Tom, together with fellow councillors, visited a local children’s home — sharing laughter, meaningful conversations and moments of genuine connection.

Yesterday in collaboration with Giving gifts of love, the Junior City council and The Church of Jesus Christ, the Thutuzela R**e crisis centre was painted specifically the waiting room of the patients, and their bathrooms, this is a day that will impact those unfortunate victims as we've made it a more welcoming place and gave the interior walls a new face.💙❤️🍀

In the early morning of October 15th the JCC went and attended a soup kitchen. Head of community service Councilor led the soup kitchen which was held in Timothy. We would love to give thanks to those who came out to help and to the schools that were involved to make this a success.❤️🍀
