We (Christians) pray while we crochet, knit sheep for children in emotional need. The sheep is the Symbol of Hope to them in their process of healing. Susan heard the voice of the Lord, that told her to make little sheep. The sheep would be giving out as a gift, to children that came to court to testify. Many children in South Africa lives under hard circumstances, they often get abused in differen
t ways, by adults, often family members.. These children are placed in youth-homes or fostercare. When its time to go to court, and testify against their abuses, the are scared, lonely and traumatized. In many courthouses the children have to face their abuser, face to face, in the courtroom,
But, in one of the courthouses, a woman called mrs Elsa Schnetler, has changed on of the under utilized rooms in the court into a children's room. There they conduct the children's court sessions without exposing them to their perpetrators. She painted the room with Disney characters and asked for donations like tables and chairs. And this is were " Sheep of Hope" comes in. Each child entering that room needs something specific (A Sheep of Hope) made for them. That can be their property to console them throughout their court procedure. To help them with their healing process. He/she should bring the sheep to court for each sitting. People started to volunteer to make the sheep, and now the word has spread to both Sweden and New Zealand. We have almost 50 finished sheep now. And will continue to knit so that we can always have a supply of Flock of Sheep of Hope. We would be very happy if you would like to join us!
