FROM THEORY TO PRACTICAL!

Today, our Culinary Skills Pilot Programme participants had their first practical session, putting their newly gained knowledge and skills into action in the kitchen.The participants got hands-on experience practising different types of cuts and chopping techniques, learning the importance of proper knife handling, precision, consistency, and preparation in the culinary industry.

It was exciting to see them move from the classroom into a practical environment, building their confidence and developing skills they can use in real kitchen settings.

Building Futures, One Conversation at a Time!

Our interns from Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong ้ฆ™ๆธฏไธญ่ฏๅŸบ็ฃๆ•™้’ๅนดๆœƒ spent time at eNkuselweni Child and Youth Care Centre, engaging young people in an interactive Career & Job Planning session.

Through role-play, discussions, and fun activities, they explored career possibilities, future dreams, and essential skills like communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

The message was simple: your future starts with the small steps you take today. Every skill gained, every dream explored, and every bit of confidence built brings you one step closer to becoming future-ready

Ending the Week on a High Note!

Some of the best team moments happen away from the office. We closed off a productive week by hitting the Sacramento Trail.

Beyond the hike, it was about creating connections, sharing experiences, embracing cultural exchange and taking a moment to appreciate the beauty around us. The coastal views, fresh sea air, and great company made it even more special.

Change-makers from St Thomas High, Gelvandale High School, Victory Leadership Academy and Chapman High School have successfully conducted powerful Climate Change campaigns at their schools. These passionate student leaders shared vital information on environmental care, proving that the fight for our planet starts right in our classrooms. Climate change is happening now, and keeping this conversation alive is crucial for driving continuous change in our schools. Education is our ultimate tool; regular awareness ensures we remain cautious of the daily habits like wasting energy or littering that quietly contribute to global warming. By staying informed, we can actively shift our mindset from complacency to consistent climate action. Huge congratulations to these incredible learners for stepping up as true eco-champions. Our interns from Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong ้ฆ™ๆธฏไธญ่ฏๅŸบ็ฃๆ•™้’ๅนดๆœƒ took another step into the YMCA experience by facilitating a Substance Abuse Prevention session at Gelvandale Primary School.

From initially observing our programmes to now confidently facilitating sessions themselves, the interns have truly blended into the team and embraced the work we do in our communities.

It has been inspiring to see them learn, engage with learners, and put their knowledge into practice while contributing meaningfully to our youth development programmes.

Today, the team visited eNkuselweni Child and Youth Care Centre as part of our ongoing efforts to expand our service and programme delivery to young people in our communities.The visit included an introductory session and engaging icebreakers designed to create a warm, calm and welcoming environment for everyone in the room.

We look forward to building a meaningful partnership with the centre and delivering programmes focused on TM, Life Skills and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) creating safe spaces where young people can learn, grow and feel supported.
