Join Us This Friday!

Come and celebrate a special milestone with Uzile and Gift as they complete their First Solo Flights!

Following a proud aviation tradition dating back to the 1920s, we will be cutting their ties and placing them in the clubhouse to join those of the many pilots who have gone before them.

This memorable occasion marks their transition from student pilots taking their first solo steps into the skies and becoming part of a long-standing aviation heritage.

📅 Date: Friday, 5th June 2026
📍 Venue: Clubhouse
🎉 Occasion: First Solo Flight Celebrations & Traditional Tie-Cutting Ceremony

We invite all members, students, family, and friends to join us in congratulating Uzile and Gift on this outstanding achievement.

Blue skies and tailwinds, Uzile and Gift! ✈ī¸đŸŽ“đŸž

đŸ›Šī¸ She'd been standing there for twenty minutes.
The pilot — a retired aerobatics instructor named Jack — had noticed her in the first five.
He kept signing autographs.
Kept answering questions from the adults.
She stayed.
Arms folded.
Watching him.
Not aggressively.
Just: not leaving.
After twenty minutes, the crowd thinned.
He walked over.
"You've been standing there awhile."
"You've been busy."
"What do you want?"
She looked at him directly.
"I want you to tell me something true about flying.
Not the stuff you tell kids. Not the promotional stuff.
Something true." đŸ›Šī¸
Jack looked at her.
She was maybe 16.
Flight jacket that was too big.
Logbook in her back pocket.
He recognized the logbook.
He'd carried one at 16.
"How many hours?" he said.
"Forty-two."
"Solo?"
"Eight."
He nodded.
Looked at his Stearman.
Then at her.
"You want something true."
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because everyone treats me like I'm playing.
Like flying is a phase.
Like a girl with forty-two hours is a novelty.
I want someone to talk to me like I'm actually going to be a pilot."
He was quiet for a moment.
"Okay," he said.
"Come here." 🙌
He walked her around the Stearman.
Not the tour.
The real version.
The control surfaces. The rigging. The weight distribution.
What each item felt like in the cockpit and why.
He talked for forty minutes.
To her. Not at her.
He asked questions and listened to her answers.
He corrected twice. Kindly. Specifically.
He told her one thing nobody had told her yet:
"The hardest part of flying isn't learning the skills.
It's learning that you belong in the cockpit.
That the aircraft doesn't care about your age or your gender.
It cares about your inputs.
Learn to make the right inputs.
Everything else is just noise from people who weren't in the cockpit."
She wrote that down. In the logbook.
Right there.
While he watched.
He signed the page.
Jack Morrison. Airshow. Stearman N-3742.
"For the pilot who stood there and waited." ✨
She's 23 now.
First Officer with a regional carrier.
She still has that logbook.
Still has that page.
The universe sends certain girls to stand beside certain biplanes.
And occasionally sends the right pilot to notice they're not moving.
đŸ”Ĩ Type "YOUR INPUTS ARE WHAT MATTER" for the girl who wouldn't move — and Jack who finally walked over 👇

Congratulations Amber Williams on achieving your Night Rating.

This is a remarkable milestone in your aviation journey. Flying by night takes skill, confidence, and dedication - and you've shown all of that and more. May this achievement open new horizons and bring you even closer to the skies you've always dreamed of.

"A pilot's eyes may guide the aircraft, but it's their courage that guides the journey."

Keep climbing, keep learning , and keep shining - even in the darkest skies.
