*PEWG Meeting - 18 April 2026*

Thank you very much to everybody who attended the guild meeting.

To everybody who took part in the turning yesterday, thank you for your participation. It seemed that it was enjoyed by each one, but more importantly, that knowledge of skills was exchanged. The designs were attractive and well thought out. You did very well!

There were 36 competition entries, which included 10 pen entries. There were 22 gold awards and 14 silver awards. There were outstanding pieces on the table and in general the standard was high. Well done to everybody who entered pieces in the competition!

The raffle table was well supported, and congratulations to all the winners.

Last but not least, thank you to the committee members for their contributions in time and effort. It is appreciated a lot.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

*PEWG Monthly Meeting*

21 March 2026

Thank you very much to everybody who attended the guild meeting.

Thank you very much to Nico de Bruin for an excellent demo. We really enjoyed the demo and it gave us great insight in how his special pens are made. Worldwide it is a small group of turners who make these pens, and we are fortunate to have one of them in our midst.

There were 59 competition entries, which included 20 pen entries. There were 24 gold awards, 27 silver awards, and 8 bronze awards. There were really exceptional pieces on the table and in general the standard was high. Well done to everybody who entered pieces in the competition!

The raffle table was well supported, and congratulations to Patrick who won the main prize.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

*PEWG Meeting*

Thank you to everybody who attended the meeting on Saturday. Everybody seemed to have enjoyed it.

The group judging went well, it seemed. The results will consolidated and processed by Jan, after which the trophies will be engraved to be handed out at the AGM.

There were some exceptionally good pieces entered on Saturday and the standard was very high. Well done!

Thank you for the contributions by the committee members to make it a success. The eats and drinks were enjoyed by everyone, and the organisation of the event was very good.

Congratulations to Steve on winning the chuck! You will surely use it, and enjoy having an additional chuck.

The next meeting is in January, which will be the Annual General Meeting and presentation of trophies. The raffle table will be another great one, we promise!

We will be sending out more information about the AGM and date closer to the beginning of January.

See you there!

*PEWG Meeting*

Thank you to everybody who attended the meeting on Saturday.

The collaboration turning went well and it seemed to have a lot of value in it for everybody. Jacaranda is a great versatile wood for turning, and it also lends itself well to natural edge turning. Thank you very much to Renaldi for the donation of the blanks, and to Murray for the use of the venue.

There were 19 competition pieces, of which 13 pieces received gold. There were some exceptionally good pieces entered on Saturday. Well done!

Last, but not least, thank you for the contributions by the committee members to make it a success. A special big thanks goes to Jan Potgieter for braaiing the boerewors for the rolls. It was delicious!

The next meeting is on 15 November, which will be the annual competition and our year end function with snacks. The raffle table will be a great one, we promise!

I will be sending out more information closer to 15 November.

See you there!

*PEWG Meeting*

Thank you to everybody who attended the meeting on Saturday.

The talk by John Miller about manufacturing in the East was very good and I learnt a lot. I am sure that everybody enjoyed it.

Renaldi's talk about resin moulding was very informative and I will use some of his techniques in future. Hopefully my part of the talk was found to be informative too.

Andrew Butler won the main prize on the raffle table, the bowl sanding kit. We are sure that he will enjoy using it.

There were 44 competition pieces, of which 29 pieces received gold. There were some exceptionally good pieces entered on Saturday. Well done!

Last, but not least, thank you for the contributions by the committee members to make it a success.

The next meeting is on 18 October and the competition is for two identical candle holders or lamps.

We will have a collaboration meeting on that date, thus turning. I will be sending out more information soon.

See you there!

John Miller's talk on woodturning and the importing of machinery and tools was very engaging and informative at this morning's PEWG monthly meeting. His expertise and phenomenal knowledge in the field provided valuable insights into the latest techniques, tools, and best practices in woodturning.
He discussed the process of importing machinery and tools, including sourcing, logistics, and regulatory considerations.

Overall, John Miller's talk was a great opportunity for attendees to learn from an experienced professional and gain valuable insights into the world of woodturning.

All the best with Wize Tools sales in the Eastern Cape.
