When people who care about people and nature cross paths, beautiful possibilities follow…

Following our Fig Tree Legacy Breakfast, Nyosi Wildlife Reserve kindly invited a few members of our team for a game drive.

We know that meaningful community development extends beyond our daily programmes. It grows through building relationships, exchanging knowledge and learning from organisations whose work offers new perspectives.

These connections broaden our understanding of the communities we serve and remind us of the value of collaboration in creating a more sustainable future for both people and the environment.

We are so grateful to Nyosi Wildlife Reserve for their hospitality and for sharing their knowledge with us. And to Michelle Brown whose thoughtfulness in connecting people made this possible.❤️

There is something so special about seeing Christmas through a child’s eyes…the excitement of walking into a room filled with toys, spotting something that catches their eye and having the freedom to choose the gift that makes them smile.

This year, we’re collecting toys for our annual Children’s Christmas Market, where children from little ones right through to teenagers will be able to browse, choose a Christmas gift and experience the simple joy of being able to say, “This is the one I want.”

This may be the only gift most children will receive this Christmas.

And that’s why every toy matters. ❤️

[SUNDAY WRAP]

School holidays are about more than keeping children busy.

For many children in Missionvale, school holidays can mean long days without the structure, routine and support that school provides. That’s why creating a safe, supervised and engaging space for children during the holidays matters.

Over the past few days, our Holiday Program has given our young people the chance to learn, create, explore and simply have fun…while being surrounded by people who care about their wellbeing.

From Culinary activities, painting and dance, to Carpentry, Gardening, CES, the program created opportunities for our children to learn alongside our Skills Development youth (ITDC) and experience different parts of MCC.

Our Operations team also got involved, taking children along on collections and errands and giving them the chance to get out, see a different side of their community and enjoy a change of scenery.

Behind all of this is the work of our different departments and teams, helping create an environment where children can participate safely, build confidence, discover new interests and spend their holidays meaningfully.

And that safety is especially important.🩵

Something really special happened today. 🩵

Some of our Missionvale staff and volunteers were invited to Total Concept Academy at Ray Mhlaba Skills Training Centre, where beauty students had the opportunity to practise their skills by giving our team manicures.

It was a beautiful coming together of skills development - young people building confidence in their chosen field, while those who spend their days serving the Missionvale community got a little time to simply be cared for.

For some, it was their very first manicure. Those little moments of laughter and feeling special meant more than we could have imagined.

We’re so grateful to Total Concept Academy, the students, Ray Mhlaba Skills Training Centre and Lisa Letord for bringing everyone together and making this possible.

And to the students: thank you for putting your skills into practice with such care. We wish you all the best as you continue learning, growing and building your futures. 🩵
