Our Meet the Tables series continues as we head to the heart of the Karoo to meet Round Table Cradock 37!

With a history stretching back to 1955, Cradock 37 is one of the longstanding Tables in the Eastern Province, carrying decades of fellowship, service and tradition into the present day.

🤝 COMMUNITY & PROJECTS

🚣 THE FISH CANOE MARATHON

Cradock 37’s biggest project is the legendary Fish Canoe Marathon, affectionately known as “The Fish.”

The event brings together paddlers, supporters and the wider community along the Fish River, creating an opportunity for Cradock 37 to make a significant contribution while showcasing the town and its famous river.

🏛️ TABLE LEGACY

More than seven decades of Round Table history have given Cradock 37 a strong place within the Eastern Province.

From its establishment in 1955 to today, the Table continues the tradition of fellowship, service and community involvement that has kept Round Table going for generations.

🦓 TABLE CULTURE — THE ZEBRA BELT

Every Table has its traditions, but Cradock 37 certainly has one that stands out!

The Chairman has a zebra belt — and it doesn’t belong to any one Chairman permanently.

Instead, the belt is passed from Chairman to Chairman, becoming a quirky piece of Table history that connects each new Chairman with those who held the position before him.

💡 DID YOU KNOW?

Cradock 37’s clubhouse has a rather unusual past…

It was once a mortuary! 😳

From a place associated with final goodbyes to a clubhouse filled with fellowship, laughter and Table spirit — that’s certainly one way to give a building a new lease on life!

THIS IS CRADOCK 37.

Nearly 70 years of history, a legendary canoe marathon, a former mortuary for a clubhouse and one very distinctive zebra belt. 🦓🍻

Our Meet the Tables series continues, and this time we’re heading to Port Elizabeth to meet Round Table PE West 142!

With a history stretching back to 1968, PE West 142 continues to uphold the values of fellowship, community and service that lie at the heart of Round Table.

🤝 COMMUNITY & PROJECTS

🔒 JAIL OR BAIL

PE West 142’s biggest project is Jail or Bail — an event where unsuspecting Tablers and local business men and women find themselves “locked up”! 😂

But there’s a way out…

The prisoners have to pick up the phone and call their friends, family and contacts to raise enough “bail money” to secure their freedom. 📞💰

A great combination of fun, fellowship and fundraising — all while getting the wider community involved.

🏆 TABLE LEGACY

PE West 142 has a particularly impressive leadership legacy, having produced 8 Eastern Province Area Chairmen over the years.

That’s a serious contribution to the leadership and development of Round Table in the Eastern Province. 🔴⚪⚫

🦌 TABLE CULTURE — THE BUCK

Every Table has its traditions, and PE West 142 has “The Buck.”

Once a month, the Buck moves from one Tabler to another.

But it’s not simply about passing an item around.

The Tabler who receives the Buck has the opportunity to visit another member, spend some time with them and get to know them on a more personal level.

The idea is simple: strengthen the bonds within the Table.

Because at the end of the day, Round Table isn’t just about what we do together — it’s about the people we do it with. 🍻

PE West 142 was established in 1968, meaning the Table has been part of the Round Table movement for more than five decades.

And with 8 EP Area Chairmen coming from its ranks, its influence on the Eastern Province runs deep.

MEET THE TABLES | KIRKWOOD 78

We’re kicking off a new series on the Round Table Eastern Province page — Meet the Tables!

Each edition, we’ll introduce you to one of the incredible Tables that make up the Eastern Province, sharing a little bit of their history, their impact, their traditions and, of course, what makes them unique.

First up… Round Table Kirkwood 78! 🏌️‍♂️🍻

📍 Established in 1961, Kirkwood 78 has a proud history spanning more than six decades. Today, the Table boasts 16 members and 3 Pipeliners, continuing the tradition of fellowship and community involvement that has defined the Table for generations.

⛳ PROJECTS & COMMUNITY

Kirkwood’s biggest project of the year is their annual Golf Day, bringing together the community for a day of fellowship, fun and fundraising.

They also play a major role in the Kirkwood Wildsfees, one of the biggest events on the local calendar, where the Table gets stuck in and makes its presence felt.

🏆 A PROUD LEADERSHIP LEGACY

Kirkwood 78 has also made its mark on the leadership of Eastern Province, having produced four EP Area Chairmen — with a fifth on the way!

Their current EP Area Vice Chairman is next in line to carry on a legacy of leadership that Kirkwood can be incredibly proud of.

🔥 FUN FACT: TAFEL SKUIF

If there’s one Kirkwood tradition that perfectly captures the spirit of Round Table, it has to be “Tafel Skuif.”

Once a month, the members arrive unannounced at one of their fellow Tablers’ homes for a good old-fashioned fellowship braai. 🍖🍻

The catch? The Tabler whose house gets “invaded” then has the honour of organising the next Tafel Skuif for the following month.

No invitations. No RSVP. Just good mates, good food and the unmistakable spirit of Round Table. 😂

This is Kirkwood 78 — 65 years of history, a strong present and a legacy that continues to shape Eastern Province.
