GREAT NEWS!

I’m so incredibly happy to share that Bluey (left), my Malabar rescue, was adopted yesterday 🐾 The family went to the AWS to adopt… and left with two, with Bluey being one of the lucky ones.

My heart is so full knowing he'll be safe and cherished. To this amazing family… thank you just doesn’t feel like enough šŸ’›

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, please consider visiting your local shelter....we're experiencing an unusually cold autumn... and there are so many waiting for homes šŸ’”

Bluey’s story begins in the Malabar informal settlement in P.E.
His owner made a difficult but loving decision — to give him a better chance at life by surrendering him into care.

Now Bluey waits in a shelter…
for someone to choose him. For someone to see him. For someone to take him home.

There are so many puppies looking for homes right now.

And the truth is — Bluey may be overlooked. Not because of who he is, but because he isn’t the ā€œprettiestā€ in the crowd. But Bluey doesn’t need to be perfect. He just needs one person to see what truly matters.
A gentle soul.
A loyal companion.
A little life full of love, waiting to be given a chance.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, please consider Bluey.
The nights are getting colder… and he’s still waiting for warmth, safety, and a family to call his own.

Maybe that family is yours. šŸ’™

BLUEY - A pup that NEEDS YOU!

Little Bluey was surrendered over to me a few weeks ago. His previous owner lives in the Malabar informal settlement. It was the right thing to do. Now he has the best chance of finding a home where he will be not only loved, but safe.

The Animal Welfare Society P.E. took him in, and now he, along with many other pups (and adult dogs and cats)...wait to be adopted.

Poor little Bluey is probably the least likely to be picked as he isn't the "prettiest" of pups (obviously not my personal opinion). His best hope is that someone out there will look at him and see him for the special angel he is.

If you are interested in meeting Bluey, please contact: Kathryn at the AWS ([email protected] or 041-3661660, Victoria Drive, Walmer, P.E.). If you would like more info on him, you are welcome to contact me: Michelle 083 264 2555 (www.easte.org.za).

Adoption is R900.00 & includes: deworming, 1st vaccination, sterilisation & a microchip. Home checks apply.

Puppy was surrendered – Bluey now looking for a home (+-8 wks old)

Some of you might recall that I’d been begging Bluey’s owner to surrender him; the Malabar informal settlement is a very unsafe area for dogs, and especially for pups.

Thankfully the owner, eventually, did what was best for Bluey, and I collected him last week. Thank you to Kathryn from the Animal Welfare Society in P.E. for taking him in. Bluey was vaccinated and tomorrow his quarantine will be over, and will go up for adoption.

He is a sweet little boy. He shared a home with three young children and another adult female dog (Sparkles), that EASTE had spayed a few weeks ago. Sparkles has an amazing temperament so she would have imprinted this on him.

Sparkles spayed and Bluey needs nutrition

Sparkles was spayed last Thursday. An early morning for me…in the Malabar informal settlement just after 7 to collect her and then a busy drive in traffic, to Primavet. Thank you to Dr RenĆ©e and Nadia for giving Sparkles the VIP treatment. Here she is recovering, post-op. Sparkles wanted to stay, and Nadia wanted her to too. But alas! Homeward we were bound. Thank you Primavet, for sending Sparkles home with two small bags of donated adult food.

I’ve been begging Sparkles’ owner to surrender a puppy she also has, Bluey, seen in the images. Puppies in these areas rarely survive to adulthood. Owners feed only what they can afford, which is almost always a diet of mostly maize, and I’ve rarely seen animals given access to fresh water. The pups scavenge for food and then end up being abused by neighbouring children, contracting biliary, some contagious disease…or being stolen. As much as some of the owners love their pets, the reality is, this isn't a safe environment for them. We must always do what is best for the animal.

I’m in the area every week and will continue to beg for little Bluey to be surrendered. In the interim, we need to get Bluey some decent food. Any puppy food is welcome…or a donation. Please WhatsApp me if you would like to drop food off.

I have supplied dewormers and tick and flea treatment.

Looking for help to feed these two nameless doggies

This morning I fetched the white doggie from the Malabar informal settlement; he was neutered at Primavet. The brown doggie is Seal’s mommy (she has been spayed). These darlings, as you can see from the video, are incredibly loving. They’ve wandered onto someone’s property and she cares for them as well as what she can.

The doggies don't have any shelter or bedding. I treated them for ticks and fleas a few weeks ago, and will continue to do so. The family feed them a staple of chicken feet and mielie pap.

Thank you to Mariam for sponsoring his neuter, and Primavet for being so supportive of the work in the townships. If anyone is interested in helping, please consider a donation, this will be used to purchase rubber kennels and food. In the interim, I will purchase something nice for him this afternoon, to aid his recovery.

*NO INTEREST IN SEAL. He cannot be sheltered indefinitely. This is urgent, please help!*

I removed Seal & two of his siblings from the Malabar informal settlement early last year, when they were 8 weeks old. Their mother had walked into a neighbour’s yard & given birth. Mom remains there today, after her original owners dismantled their shack…& left her behind. EASTE sponsored her spay.

The AWS in P.E. kindly took in the pups, which were both quickly adopted. But Seal has been left behind...he is now a year old.

Seal walks beautifully on the lead & just needs someone to take him home & do some basic obedience training with him.

He would make a great beach partner & would love a friend to play with in his new home. With a slow introduction, he could share a home with cats too.

One year old Seal desperately needs a home...ASAP, he cannot stay at the shelter forever and he has been waiting for a home for a year already.

I removed Seal and two of his siblings from the Malabar informal settlement early last year. Their mother had walked into a neighbour’s yard and given birth. Mom remains there today after her original owners dismantled their shack…and left her behind. EASTE sponsored her spay.

The Animal Welfare Society in P.E. kindly took in the pups, and wonderfully, both of Seal’s siblings were adopted within a month. But this poor boy got left behind. He endured a cold winter and now, it’s a very hot and humid summer. His mom has the loveliest temperament. I’ll include a video below that I took of her two weeks ago.
