Our Story | Talitha Cumi Tela Foundation

Talitha Cumi Tela Foundation was established in 2020 born from a moment that changed my life forever.

When I, Nazley Gabaatlhole, was crowned Mrs Eastern Cape 2018, I had the opportunity to travel through different communities across our province. What I witnessed broke my heart—poverty-stricken areas, families struggling to survive, and children going to school hungry, without enough food to eat or even warm blankets to sleep under.
In that moment, I knew I could not turn away.

Poverty has sadly become the norm in many parts of our country, and it is the children who suffer the most. No child should have to try to learn on an empty stomach or fall asleep cold and hungry.

That is why Talitha Cumi Tela Foundation was created—to bring hope, dignity, and practical help to the most vulnerable.

My husband, Pastor Sebastien Gabaatlhole and I realised we have to change a life, one child at a time.

We are a registered non-profit organization doing our very best to ensure that children receive some form of nourishment, whether through meals provided at schools or by distributing food parcels to families who are in desperate need.

Every small act of kindness makes a difference, and every donation helps us reach one more child.

Out of deep respect for the dignity of those we serve, we do not post pictures of the needy.

Instead, we share images of the goods and support provided, as well as moments that do not exploit or embarrass the families and children who receive assistance.

We believe that help should always be given with love, humility, and honor.

If your heart is stirred to partner with us—through providing education, food, clothing, blankets, toys, or financial support—we would be truly grateful.

Talitha Cumi Tela Foundation SA is also "adopted" the children of Blessing Christian Academy International in South Africa, making sure that the children get assistance by sharing their needs whether in education or food.
