🌍⚓ WORLD MARITIME DAY 2026
Theme: “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence”
This World Maritime Day comes at a time of growing geopolitical tension, increasing pressure on global shipping routes & supply chains and the cost of doing business.
When maritime trade is disrupted, the impact is felt far beyond ports and vessels. It affects businesses, increases the cost of moving goods and, ultimately, reaches consumers through higher prices and reduced supply-chain certainty.
At the centre of this global system are our seafarers — the essential workers who keep cargo moving and global trade functioning, often operating under increasingly complex and uncertain conditions. Their safety, dignity and wellbeing must remain central to maritime excellence.
This year’s theme is therefore timely. The Maritime sector must move from strategies and policies on paper to practical implementation and measurable ex*****on.
For the Maritime Business Chamber (MBC), implementation must also be inclusive. As governments, regulators, ports and industry translate policy into action, MSMEs and emerging maritime businesses must not be left behind. They must have meaningful access to opportunities across the maritime value chain.
Maritime excellence must translate into safer seafarers, resilient supply chains, competitive businesses, empowered MSMEs and sustainable economic growth.
