The 9th of October marked a special milestone for our team—Lily, Michelle, Graham, Khanya, and Anga—as they hosted Sunshine Life Centre's very first Career Guidance Program at Port Alfred Junior Secondary School! 🤝🚀✨

A huge thank you to the school team and acting principal Mrs. Baatjies for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to present to her Grade 9 learners. With subject choices just around the corner, guiding these students at this critical juncture is essential—because it is always better to shape young minds early so they grow up making the right decisions for their futures. 💡🌱

This was just step one of our journey. As we launch this program, we are excited to expand our reach, partner with more schools, and continue standing united to uplift the next generation. The future is bright! 🌍📚.

Celebrating New Skills in the Kitchen! 🍲

We are so proud of our 3 Sunshine Life Centre clients who have completed 4 lessons in Basic Cooking Skills!

This training was designed to augment the Home Based Care training completed in August this year, and we are delighted to share that we now have a well-rounded Home Based Carer in Owethu Lombo - equipped with both First Aid Basics and Cooking Basics.

A heartfelt thank you to Safiyya from Zaffron who so generously shared her kitchen and her expertise. With much patience and care, she coached our trainees through cooking methods and delicious, practical recipes.

Well done to all our learners - your dedication is inspiring!

VOLUNTEER NEEDED – Help Make Homes Safe & Dry

The recent heavy rains have left many of our most vulnerable families living in unsafe, damp homes. We cannot ignore the need in our midst.

Sunshine Life Centre is looking for a special volunteer — someone with a passion for people and experience in construction — to work alongside our team.

What we need:
You would supervise and guide our clients as they repair homes, imparting practical building skills to local labour while restoring dignity and safety.

This is a wonderful opportunity to share your expertise, mentor others, and directly improve the quality of life for families in our community.

If you have some time to give and the building knowledge to lead, we'd love to hear from you.

Growing Skills, Growing Community 🌱

Three of our clients from Sunshine Life Centre completed their General Gardening training on 6th & 7th October!

They quickly discovered just how much knowledge and how many skills gardening really requires - from plant care to mowing and edging.

A heartfelt thank you to:
💚 Tracy Nettleton-Phillips for opening these doors for them
💚 Port Alfred Soup Kitchen for making their garden available for training
💚 The Old Railway Station for allowing use of their lawn to practice mowing and edging

This is community care in progress! 🌻
