We presently operate from โ€œHarris Houseโ€ which premises has been donated to us at 42 van de Riet Street in Port Alfred since August 2003. This has allowed us to grow and our vision is to continue growing to feed on a daily basis. We are totally reliant on donations which we receive and have an audited and managed accounting system. All funds are used expressly for feeding the needy as everyone inv

olved in helping are volunteers therefore there are no salaries etc. We provide an extremely healthy and vitamin enriched soup together with bread & buns. We get a lot of our bread, buns and also veggies donated to us by the various supermarkets in Port Alfred. We also have to purchase of lot of bread depending on the quantities being donated for each feeding day.

Every act of kindness makes a difference.

Our new monthly giving campaign is a simple way for people to help us continue feeding families, supporting children, and bringing hope to those who need it most. No amount is too small โ€” consistent giving helps keep our pots boiling and our outreach going month after month.

If you would like to become part of our community of monthly donors, simply choose an amount that feels right for you. Together, we can make a lasting difference. ๐Ÿค

Every week, the Port Alfred Soup Kitchen supports families who are struggling to make ends meet. Many are living with very little, and for some, a food hamper means the difference between going hungry or having hope for another week.

Our dream is to provide a monthly family food hamper to the 30 families we currently care for โ€” helping them with basic essentials and nutritious meals during these difficult times.

No donation is too small. Together, as a community, we can help keep food on the table and hope in their hearts. ๐Ÿค

Itโ€™s that time of the year again when the weather is fun for some but horrible for others. The ladies circle will be making people very happy with their Jar filling. Consider helping them with this year being able to reach more people. Thank you Ladies. https://www.facebook.com/share/1bpEuZz4Up/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Today weโ€™d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to two incredible young individuals, Benjamin Kaplan and Duncan Villet, Grade 11 students from St Johnโ€™s College in Johannesburg.
While on holiday in our area, and noticing the cold weather, they chose to spend part of their time doing something truly meaningful โ€” preparing approximately 30 litres of soup to support our distributions for tomorrow. ๐Ÿฒโ„๏ธ
Your thoughtfulness, generosity, and willingness to take action during your holiday mean so much to us and to the many people who will be warmed by your kindness.
Benjamin and Duncan, youโ€™ve made a real difference. Thank you for reminding us all of the power of compassion. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’” Our Community Needs Us โ€” Now More Than Ever ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ”ฅ

Over the past days, devastating fires have torn through the farms just outside our town.
Families have lost homes, belongings, and their sense of safety. Livestock are left with no grazing, no feed โ€” and with months of drought behind us, the land is dry and fragile.

Many of these farmers are not just neighboursโ€ฆ
They are the very people who greatly support our Soup Kitchen week after week by donating vegetables so we can feed others.
Now they are the ones in need.

๐Ÿ’› To our incredible community โ€” thank you.
Thank you to every person who donated clothes, food, drinks, bedding, and essentials to families who lost everything.
Thank you to the firefighting crews โ€” made up largely of local farmers and the fire brigadeโ€” who fought tirelessly day and night to protect lives and land, including the Animal sanctuary
Thank you to local businesses who sent water trucks, supplied food, and supported the crews on the ground.
A BIG thank you to Lifefirst in Port Alfred for coordinating everything behind the scenes and keeping it all together.

What we have witnessed is community at its very best. And are so grateful that no human life was lost

๐ŸŒ To our friends and supporters inland and overseas:
This small town is facing a very big challenge. The recovery will take time, and many families are starting again from nothing. A BackaBuddy campaign has been set up to help them rebuild their lives, restore their farms, and care for their animals.

If you are able to help in any way โ€” whether through sharing or donating โ€” it would mean more than words can say.
