Lengau People's Society officially introduces its advocacy campaign to promote trust, transparency, mutual respect and constructive engagement between African community organisations and the financial institutions that serve them.
Across our communities, stokvels, societies, cooperatives and community organisations bring people together to save, support families, develop businesses and create economic opportunities.
These organisations deserve to be understood and assessed on the basis of their actual activities, governance, financial records and verified information.
π€ *OUR MESSAGE TO BANKS*
We recognise the important responsibilities of banks in preventing fraud, protecting customers and complying with applicable laws and regulations.
We equally believe that when concerns arise about Lengau People's Society or any other community organisation, verified evidence and direct engagement should take precedence over unverified stories and assumptions.
We invite financial institutions to engage with authorised representatives, verify material information and provide appropriate opportunities for clarification, subject to applicable law.
