It is with deep sadness and great concern that we at SAVF National Office 001-446 NPO have been following the devastating news of the killings of several women in and around Kempton Park over the past two months.

Behind every victim is a family, a loved one, a friend and a community left with unimaginable pain. These tragic acts of violence remind us once again of the urgent need to stand together against gender-based violence and violence in all its forms.

As an organisation built on Compassion at the Core, we cannot remain indifferent when lives are lost and families are shattered.
This Friday, we invite every SAVF staff member and volunteer to wear BLACK as a simple but powerful expression of:

🖤 Respect for those whose lives have been taken.
🖤 Support for their families, loved ones and communities.
🖤 Solidarity with all women and children affected by violence.
🖤 A stand against violence and a call for safer communities.

A Stronger Future Through Partnership: Suikerbosoord in Heidelberg joins the SAVF Family

Heidelberg, Gauteng —SAVF is proud to announce that Suikerbosoord in Heidelberg, Gauteng, has officially become part of the SAVF family, following the successful completion of all processes and agreements between the parties.

This milestone represents another important step in SAVF’s vision of creating sustainable futures for care facilities while ensuring that residents, staff and volunteers continue to receive the support they need.

SAVF Suikerbosoord is the third facility since 2024 to become part of the SAVF family, following the integration of SAVF Cosmos in Vandykspark and SAVF Princess Home in Pretoria.

Strength through unity:
Across South Africa, many facilities face increasing operational, financial, administrative and governance pressures when attempting to function independently. SAVF’s strategic direction provides an alternative — enabling facilities to access the strength, expertise and infrastructure of a national organisation while continuing to serve their local communities.

Through SAVF National Office’s shared services, facilities can access support in areas such as governance, finance, human resources, marketing, information technology, compliance and strategic management.

SAVF CEO Adriaan Raubenheimer says the growing interest from facilities wanting to work with SAVF demonstrates the value of collaboration.

“We believe that the future of care is strengthened when we stand together. Becoming part of the SAVF family is not about losing an identity — it is about gaining the strength, support and shared expertise of a national organisation committed to sustainable care.”

Today, the first foundations were poured at Phase 6!

SAVF as the new developers at Die Oog, proudly records this significant milestone in our 122-year history.

Vandag vier ons die verjaardag van ’n besondere vrou — ’n ware ikoon van die SAVF - Mevrou Irna Hartzenberg.

As dogter het sy die eerste spore in die SAVF getrap. As eggenote en moeder het sy die verantwoordelikheid van SAVF-president met waardigheid aanvaar. En vandag, as ouma, bou sy steeds voort as Gauteng se provinsiale leier.

Sy is ’n voorbeeld van ’n vrou wat sonder vrees verandering omarm, haar talente met oorgawe as vrywilliger gebruik en deur haar diens diep spore trap — altyd met die groter visie voor oë: om te verseker dat die SAVF se dienslewering vir geslagte wat kom volhoubaar en betekenisvol sal wees.

By die SAVF word sy aangespreek as “Mevrou” — ’n naam wat respek, wysheid en ’n leeftyd van diens verteenwoordig.

Vir die presidente wat ná haar gekom het, is sy veel meer as ’n voorganger. Sy is ’n rots, mentor en moederfiguur — iemand na wie daar geluister word en op wie daar altyd gereken kan word.

Mevrou, mag u verjaardag gevul wees met vreugde, liefde en kosbare oomblikke saam met diegene wat vir u dierbaar is. Mag die nuwe lewensjaar vir u ’n jaar van oorvloedige seën, goeie gesondheid en steeds groter betekenis wees.
