We led storytelling and discussion sessions where learners read books about characters who stood up to bullying. These activities helped students understand how others felt and why it was important to intervene when bullying occurred.
The Peer Mentoring Programme was launched. Older students were paired with younger students to offer support and share strategies for being upstanders. This programme developed leadership among older learners and guided younger learners on how to respond to bullying.
The school hosted a school-wide Anti-Bullying Week and Campaign. Activities included poster-making, writing kindness messages, and attending assemblies focused on empathy, kindness, and standing up for others. The campaign engaged the entire school community in promoting positive behaviour and opposing bullying.
Students who demonstrated upstander behaviour were recognised during an Upstander Award Ceremony at a school assembly. This recognition motivated other students to follow their example.
Role-playing and scenario practice sessions were conducted to ensure that students retained and improved their skills in responding to bullying situations. These sessions strengthened students’ confidence and readiness to act as upstanders. At the end of the month, students reflected on and renewed their Upstander Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to take action when witnessing bullying or harmful behaviour.
The project concluded with a reflection and celebration. During a school-wide assembly, students and staff reflected on the year’s achievements, shared stories of positive change, and recognised individuals who made a significant impact. This celebration reinforced the message of standing up for others and supported the continued growth of a safe, inclusive school environment. Thank you to Global Changemakers for making it possible for us to raise awareness regarding bullying to younger children because they deserve a better school environment.
