📚 A Reminder of the Responsibility that Educators Carry.
A recent report revealed that a primary school teacher in the Western Cape has been suspended after allegedly posting a video mocking a Grade 1 learner who could not afford to buy a pie. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls from the community for accountability.
As educators, we are entrusted with more than just teaching subjects; we are entrusted with young hearts, dignity, and the futures of our learners. Many children come to school carrying challenges we may never fully understand: poverty, hunger, family struggles, and emotional burdens.
Our classrooms should always remain safe spaces of compassion, encouragement, and respect.
This incident is a powerful reminder that:
• Every child deserves dignity and kindness.
• Educators must protect, not expose or embarrass, vulnerable learners.
• Professional ethics extend to what we post and share online.
• Small acts of empathy can change a child’s life.
At EDU-Pathway, we believe great educators are not only knowledgeable but also deeply compassionate and mindful of the impact they have on every learner.
Let’s continue building a culture in education where every child feels valued, supported, and safe. ❤️
