The late 1970's and early 1980's was a period of intense mass mobilisation in South Africa. There was huge a huge increase in organised activities such as student demonstration and workers strikes and boycott.

For the first time since the beginning of the liberations,mass-based progressive organisations were built to oppose apartheid. This was very important in the light of the intanse repression of the 1960's and 1970's that had almost destroyed the national liberation movement. At a Community level, civic associations were formed in many areas to deal with people's immediate problems (bread and butter) Civic saw Thier role as representing the people and Thier demands.Campaigns were fought on issues like rents, housing, bus fares and the price of electricity.

Let's continue with the struggle maxabane!our people first, the Revolution continues African people first.
