This Youth Day, around 130 young people from the Dwarsrivier Valley came together at Bertha Retreat for a day of learning, reflection, and fun.

Through games, interactive activities, and discussions, they explored the significance of the 1976 Youth Uprising and tackled an important question: “Who writes your future?”

A screening of Coach Carter sparked conversations about perseverance, responsibility, goal-setting, and making positive choices, with plenty of “aha!” moments and a few laughs along the way.

It was a celebration of youth, encouraging young people to recognise their power to shape not only their own futures, but also the future of their communities.
