🎨 A Morning Full of Color, Creativity & Warmth! 🎨

We had the most beautiful, artsy morning with our kids today making awesome face masks! It is truly wonderful seeing these children express themselves so freely through artwork and creativity. 🌟

A massive thank you to Claudia and Zosia for coming out with a treasure trove of creative goodies and encouraging the kids to let their imagination and artistic side flow! 🖌️✨

To top off a special day, the kids were sent home today with awesome, warm knitted blankets kindly donated by Delias, along with cozy beanies for all our kids donated by Plett Evangelical Fellowship Church. 🧣❄️

Thanks to all of you, our kids are warm inside and out today. ❤️

BITOU VICTIM SUPPORT: CLOSED CASES & JUSTICE PROGRESS REPORT

While true justice often feels long overdue after years of painful court proceedings and emotional toll on survivors, we are proud to announce that several long-standing cases supported by Bitou Victim Support have finally come to a close.

A massive, heartfelt thank you goes to Helene Bezuidenhout. Day in and day out, Helene shows up in court to stand beside our victims, ensuring they are prepared, comforted, and empowered through the grueling process of seeking justice. She fights tooth and nail for our children, and today we can stand strong knowing these perpetrators are finally behind bars where they belong.

⚖️Randall Booysen
Offense: R**e (Offense date: 2019)
Outcome & Sentence: Found guilty and sentenced to Life Imprisonment.
Status: Case Closed.

⚖️ Dominic Stuurman
Offense: Sexual Offense / R**e
Outcome & Sentence: Plea accepted; sentenced on 26 March 2026 to 5 Years Imprisonment.
Status: Case Closed.

⚖️Samara Tshewbrese
Offense: R**e
Outcome & Sentence: Found guilty on 11 August 2026 and sentenced to 20 Years Imprisonment.
Status: Case Closed.

⚖️ Masixole Nyengane
Offense: R**e (Offense date: 2021)
Outcome & Sentence: Found guilty on 25 August 2026 and sentenced to 10 Years Imprisonment.
Status: Case Closed.

⚖️ Keith Esau
Offense: R**e (Convicted: 15 July 2026)
Outcome & Sentence: Sentenced on 1 September 2026 to Life Imprisonment.
Status: Case Closed.

Every sentence handed down represents a step toward healing for the victims and safer streets for our community.

🐾 A Day of Wonder, Healing, and Hope at Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre! 🐾

Today’s Saturday activity was truly something special for our Bitou Victim Support family. We had the absolute privilege of visiting the team at Tenikwa, and what an unforgettable, uplifting day it turned out to be!

Guided by the wonderful Boniwe, we were taken on an inspiring tour of the centre. Boniwe moved us all by sharing her beautiful testimony of how working alongside these majestic animals helped in her own journey of healing. Our children learned so much about wildlife conservation, treating animals with kindness, and the small ways we can all help make the world a safer, thriving place for nature.

It is clear that Tenikwa is a place built on pure heart. Every single animal is treated with deep love, respect, and utmost care. From their healthy, well-fed residents to the genuine warmth of the staff who speak about the animals like family, the atmosphere was magical.

Highlights from our visit included seeing:

🐧 Rescued Penguins: Recovering safely in the rehab centre after being injured at sea.

🐆 Big & Wild Cats: Magnificent cheetahs, a remarkably healthy and happy leopard, wild cats, caracals, and impressive lions.

🐢 Rescued Tortoises: Now living in peace and safety after surviving past mistreatment.

🦦 A Meerkat Family: A very cheerful, protective, and energetic little crew!

Seeing the sheer delight on our kids' faces was priceless. These outings are so much more than just fun—they are educational, deeply restorative, and healing for the soul.

💙 Aunty Ina and the BVS team for treating the children to delicious ice creams after the tour!

A massive, warm thank you to the wonderful youth of the New Apostolic Church in New Horizons for visiting us. Through the kindness and generosity of their church members, they brought along a fantastic donation of much-needed toiletries. Your support and care for our community mean the world to us and to those we support.

We would also like to give a extra-special shout-out and thank you to Yvette for donating the paint for our rock painting activity! Thanks to your generosity, everyone got to express their creativity and leave a colourful mark on the day. 🎨✨

She provides the love, guidance, and safety these young survivors need to heal, rebuild trust, and rediscover the joy of childhood.

Opening the doors of Helena House was just the beginning. It takes a village to keep this sanctuary running and ensure every child is cared for.

✨ A Morning of Magic, Movement & Healing at BVS! ✨

We had the absolute joy of hosting a special Child Bonding, Relaxation & Yoga Morning at Bitou Victim Support! It was a beautiful, uplifted space where our children could unwind, stretch, play, and just be kids. 🌿🧘‍♀️

A huge highlight of the morning was introducing the children to Biodanza!

💖 What is Biodanza & How Does It Benefit Our Young Survivors?

Biodanza (literally meaning "the dance of life") is an integrative movement practice that combines music, non-verbal expression, and joyful group interaction. Unlike structured dance, there are no steps to memorize—it’s all about natural, authentic movement and feeling safe in one's own body.
For children recovering from stress, adversity, or trauma, Biodanza offers profound benefits:

🌿 Nervous System Regulation: The rhythm, music, and gentle physical activity help ease anxiety, releasing built-up tension and bringing a sense of calm.

🫂 Rebuilding Trust & Connection: Through gentle, guided group exercises, children learn to feel safe around others, rebuilding healthy social bonds and a sense of belonging.

🌈 Safe Emotional Expression: Kids often don't have the words to describe how they feel. Biodanza gives them a creative, non-verbal outlet to express joy, release feelings, and reclaim emotional freedom.

⭐ Boosting Self-Worth & Joy: Movement and play stimulate positive emotions, helping young survivors reconnect with their innate confidence, playfulness, and resilience.

Building Skills for the Real World! 🍳✨

There is always something wonderful happening in the kitchen at Helena House! Recently, one of our amazing kids took the lead in learning how to make delicious, traditional vetkoek.

But this wasn't just about cooking a tasty treat—it’s about building foundational life skills. Learning how to navigate a kitchen safely, prepare meals, and run a household are tools these children will carry with them forever.

And absolutely no one teaches these values better than our incredible House Mother, Helene Bezuidenhout! ❤️ Helena House is so much more than a place of safety.

Thanks to Mama Helene’s love, guidance, and dedication, our kids are gaining the practical skills and confidence they need to truly thrive out in the real world.

We are so proud of our young chefs and deeply grateful for the heart Helene pours into their futures every single day!
