Education Is the Way Forward
We came full circle — old and young, near and far — in a gathering of shared wisdom.

From village fires to printed pages, we began to collect and pass on these stories.
Not just to remember.
But to teach.
To awaken.
To inspire.
This is our solution forward: Education.

One story at a time. One child at a time. One connection at a time.
We believe in the power of listening — across borders, through generations, and back into the soul of our shared humanity.

The Hearts of Grown-Ups
…something we never imagined possible:

We reached beyond the hearts of children — and into the hearts of grown-ups.

They, too, began to remember the quiet magic of childhood.
They, too, were touched by the raw, honest beauty of young voices across cultures.

And so we asked them:
What is the most important thing you want your children to remember?
Elder Ole Korondo Siare, a respected voice of the Maasai, spoke from the heart:

“They must love one another. Really love — and unite. Love your neighbour.”
And so the story deepens.

Around the Fires; We sat around fires, under vast skies, where children from across the continent shared stories of their worlds — expressed through words, drawings, song, and movement.

They asked to hear more — not just from us, but from other children beyond borders. They didn’t just want to be heard… they wanted to listen.

In these moments, innocence was not only preserved, but celebrated.
And something extraordinary happened. Something we never expected...

Where It All Began.
This is where our story began…

In the heart of Maasailand, deep in the forest on the edge of the Rift Valley, children gathered beneath the trees.

There, they listened — wide-eyed and open-hearted — to stories of children from across Africa. These distant worlds may have seemed strange, but the Maasai children responded not with fear or judgment, but with joy.

There was laughter. Curiosity. And a simple request:
“Please come back… and bring more stories.”
This was the spark that lit our journey.

🎬 "WE HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY."

This video captures the voices of Chadday, Lukasha and Birdene — recorded with the support of their friends Nala and Finja. What you’ll see isn't polished production. It’s something far more meaningful: young people speaking from the heart.

These girls, like so many others, don’t always have the means to share their stories. But with just a little support, their voices shine.

The technical quality may vary. The message does not.

This growing exchange will soon include children from across Africa — raw, real, and deeply human stories that remind us how connected we all are.

Because storytelling isn't about perfection. It's about being heard.

Rheenendal Primary, South Africa
🎤 And then, the storytellers met.

Nala and Finja travelled to South Africa and reconnected with friends in Rheenendal — a reunion that carried a deeper purpose.

This time, they brought more than memories. They brought the idea of using video to share your voice.

With their help, three girls — Chadday, Lukasha and Birdene — each stepped in front of the camera and told their story. For these girls, technology is not always accessible. The internet isn't always available. But their voices? Full of truth, creativity, and strength.

This is what Gathering the Voices is about: exchange, connection, and passing on tools that allow others to be heard.

📽️ One story leads to another.

After watching Nala’s video, Finja felt inspired to share her own voice. She filmed a day in her life in Berlin — how she moves through her world, what she notices, what feels familiar.

It wasn’t about producing something polished — it was about being present, and opening a window into her everyday.

Nala and Finja then shared their videos with a group of girls in Rheenendal, South Africa — friends they had met on a previous visit. This act of sharing became more than an exchange; it became an invitation.

✨ It started with a single story.

Nala, born and raised in Germany, wanted to connect with other children through the lens of everyday life. So she picked up a camera and filmed a day in her world — her routines, her favourite spots, the way she sees and feels her surroundings.

She created this video to share with children across the world — including a small community in South Africa — in the hopes of sparking something real.

That one video became the spark.

It reminded us how stories connect us — across distance, culture, and language.
And so, the exchange began.

In every story told, there’s a spark—one that connects children not only to each other, but to themselves and the natural world around them.

At the heart of our work is a simple belief: when children are given the space to listen, imagine, and express, they begin to understand their place in the world—and their responsibility to it.

That’s what our Story Bus Tour is all about. We travel across towns and villages, bridging distance and difference with the power of storytelling—awakening empathy, curiosity, and care for the earth.

Because when a child connects to their story, they start to see the world—and their role in it—differently.

🚐 No road trip through Africa is without a few wrong turns. Luckily for us, we got blissfully lost before reaching our last destination—wandering off the path and imagining, even for a moment, what it might have felt like for our first people to meander across the African landscape.

But today, that landscape has changed. The balance that once existed has been devastatingly thrown off.

Take the springbok—South Africa’s national animal. Once roaming in their thousands, their decline wasn’t brought about by one of their natural predators like the cheetah, but by the most dangerous predator of all: humans.

Through our educational programs, we teach children about the fragile balance of our ecosystem—and the responsibility we all share to protect it.
