Sabrina Love Foundation

Sabrina Love Foundation At the Sabrina Love Foundation we are all about ‘The Kids’.

 Inspiring Inclusion
 Daycare for Children with Disabilities
 Therapeutic Services
 Inclusion in Mainstream Schools
 Parent Empowerment
Community Outreach The main purpose of our organisation is to try and help less fortunate parents who face the challenges of giving their special children everything that they need in order to live as normal and comfortable a life as possible. I

n some cases, this is as simple as the need of a wheelchair, something so out of reach for some, and yet a tool that could set these children free. We also provide additional services and treatments such as an Occupational Therapist, visits to the hospital or to Red Cross, Physiotherapy and, where we can, specialist operations or procedures. We are able to provide this through our many fundraising efforts and wonderful supporters who continuously donate to our special Foundation.

It’s 🤸‍♀️ Today we are sharing a small snippet of one of our recent OT sessions!

Here are some of the skills we worked on:

Gross Motor Planning & Strength: Jumping over blocks and navigating into the tunnel required body coordination, core strength, and weight-bearing through his affected arm. 💪

Visual Memory & Spatial Awareness: Looking at the 2D picture on the whiteboard, holding that image in his mind, and then finding the matching 3D shapes 👀

Fine Motor & Hand Strength: Using that spray bottle is no joke! It’s the ultimate workout for hand intrinsic muscles, grip strength and bilateral integration🖐️

Visual-Motor Integration: Sticking the shapes onto the mirror in the exact same orientation as the picture 🧩

So many fun and creative ways to work on all these skills and this little champ crushed them all🙌🏽🩷

Happy 30th Birthday, Sabrina! 🎂✨💖

Today, we celebrate a milestone that is close to our hearts. Sabrina’s time with us may have been short, but the spark she ignited 30 years ago continues to burn brighter than ever.

The Sabrina Love Foundation was born from love and a beautiful girl’s spirit. Sabrina inspired a vision of a world where children with disabilities are not just cared for, but celebrated, empowered, loved and INCLUDED!

Today, as we celebrate her birthday, we look at the hundreds of children whose lives have been changed by her legacy. Every smile, every milestone achieved, and every bit of hope we share is a gift from Sabrina to the world.

Happy Birthday Sabrina! Thank you for showing us how to love without limits🤗🩷🌸

Happy World Clubfoot Day! 👣💕

Today, we raise awareness, celebrate the amazing progress of our little warriors, and advocate for early access to proper treatment worldwide!

Clubfoot is one of the most common congenital physical disabilities, affecting 1 in every 1,000 babies and is easily treatable with the right medical intervention early on!

Club foot treatment usually looks like:
•Serial Casting. Weekly gentle stretching and casting (usually 4–6 casts) to gradually align the foot. 🦶
•A Tenotomy. A minor snip of the Achilles tendon to give the heel the length it needs, followed by another cast 🩹
•Bracing. Wearing “boots and bars” to maintain the correction. This prevents the foot from turning back in! 🥾

Not all our children who have gone through this process are able to walk (mostly due to other diagnoses), but straight and mobile feet open up a world of opportunities for standing and engagement.

Advocating for our kids is so important because every child deserves the chance to live a full and active life 🩷

At Sabrina Love Foundation, communication goes beyond words. 🩷

South African Sign Language (SASL) forms part of our everyday interactions, helping children and adults express themselves, connect with others, and participate more fully in daily activities.

While sign language is essential for many Deaf individuals, it is also a powerful communication tool for people with a variety of communication needs. By embracing multiple ways of communicating, we create more inclusive, accessible, and meaningful connections for everyone.

Every sign is a step towards understanding, belonging, and empowerment. 🤟🏽🤟🏿🤟🏻💞✨

Yesterday we had Pyjama Day! 🧸💕

With the weather getting chilly we decided to have a pyjama day at Sabrina’s centre! Our skills class made popcorn, we dressed in our coziest pyjama’s, we read stories and cuddled our softest teddies 🤗

Sometimes the best moments are the softest ones ☁️ 💕

This we’re focusing on our schools outreach program!

Our OT, Pam, is hugely involved in providing therapy for kids in our organisation in the surrounding mainstream schools in our community!

This week she adapted a maths activity. He was struggling the speed and illegible writing in the classroom.

Using number tiles this little boy can now participate fully in maths. He has gained independence, confidence and his teacher can now read his work with ease.

Instead of writing from the board, his number tile sums can be photocopied and stuck in his workbook!

This is why we love inclusion!
