LUNCHBOX THEATRE

LUNCHBOX THEATRE Making kids wiser, one show at a time, one audience member at a time. Stuart Palmer is one of those lucky people who has found his calling.

He loves uplifting people, especially families, making a positive and peaceful difference to as many threatened aspects of our precious world as he can, leading people towards enlightenment and awareness and … acting! This is lucky for us because when he came to live in the Garden of Eden he combined all his skills and passions … and Lunchbox Theatre was conceived. Since then he has created and pe

rformed many shows with his troupe of dedicated actors – A Dog's Life, The Last Drop, iLifa (The Inheritance), Thand' Impilo (Love Life), The Tree Show, The Waste Show and The Whale Show to name but a few. Every show has far reaching effects and make a big difference to South African lives.

There is something beautifully quiet about this piece.

Anne Mourier has donated **It is Time** to our first ever Lunchbox Theatre Art Auction.

The work is a **Fine Art Giclée Print on Archival Matte Paper**, and although it is travelling from far away, the heart behind it sits very close to the Lunchbox story.

Anne is a long-time friend of Lunchbox Theatre, and her contribution reminds us that support can come from many places: from across oceans, through friendships, and through people who believe in the creative work being done with children and young people.

**It is Time** feels like an invitation to pause. A small chair in the grass. A quiet space. A moment waiting.

Every bid helps support Lunchbox Theatre’s creative work in our community.

Two bold screenprints. One generous artist. And a beautiful addition to our first ever Lunchbox Theatre Art Auction.

Ian Hunter Paintings is a Knysna-based artist, trained printmaker and painter, and a long-time friend of the Lunchbox Theatre family.

For the Lunchbox Theatre Art Auction, Ian has donated two vibrant screenprints:

Echoes in a Forest
A 6-colour screenprint on Fabriano paper, full of movement, rhythm and wild character.

Monomythic Man
An 11-colour screenprint on Fabriano paper, rich with colour, story and playful human energy.

These are works that ask to be seen in real life. The colour, the paper, the layering, the hand of the artist... all of it carries something that a screen can only partly show.

Every bid helps support Lunchbox Theatre's creative work with children and young people in our community.

Vincent Meyburgh is part of the Lunchbox origin story.

and Stuart first met as performers on Greenmarket Square.

Vincent was performing as a clown on a unicycle, wearing flippers and Stuart was juggling devil sticks. From that wonderfully wild beginning, a friendship formed.

They went on to create high-energy fire shows, school shows, and eventually work that grew into Jungle Theatre Company, bringing performance and education to children and the birth of iconic Whale Show.

For Stuart, those early years helped shape everything that followed.

So when Vincent donated Julliette to the Lunchbox Theatre Art Auction, it was not simply an artist giving a painting. It was an old friend, fellow performer, and part of the deeper Lunchbox story saying: “Yes, I believe in this work.”

Anja Wiehl Anja Wiehl is a Lunchbox Legend in every sense.

Anja has known and Lunchbox for many years. In the early days, she supported the work by photographing Lunchbox shows, giving her time and creative eye to help tell the story.

Her support did not stop there.

Anja made a personal pledge that 10% of her art sales would always go to Lunchbox Theatre. That kind of quiet, ongoing generosity says so much about the community around this work.

For this auction, Anja has donated two beautiful drypoint prints:

Karoo Bunnies
https://lunchbox.org.za/karoo-bunnies/

Karoo Varkies
https://lunchbox.org.za/anteaters-framed-etching-on-paper/

Both pieces have already received bids, and it is easy to see why. They are playful, detailed, full of Karoo character, and made with heart.

Auction closes Friday 13 June.

One artist. Five works. One generous act of belief.

Hermann Niebuhr has contributed five works to the Lunchbox Theatre Art Auction.

At the heart of the collection is Huis Rivier, the oil painting he created especially for this auction after experiencing Lunchbox Theatre’s work with children.

Alongside it are four graphite works on paper:

Dog
Trumpet
Karoo Camera
Key

Together, these works carry Hermann’s eye for road, landscape, object, memory and atmosphere. We are so grateful for this generous contribution and for every artist who has helped make this auction possible.

Keep bidding for your favourite piece, and it could be yours.

Meet the artist: Hermann Niebuhr

This week we are spotlighting artist Hermann Niebuhr, whose generous contribution to the Lunchbox Theatre Art Auction began with a moment of real connection.

Hermann first encountered Lunchbox Theatre through the Lunchbox Legends Ride, when he was invited to watch one of our school shows. What he saw stayed with him: children responding to theatre, creativity, story and possibility.

Back in his studio, surrounded by paint, sketches, roads, mountains and memory, Hermann created Huis Rivier especially for this auction.

We are deeply grateful to Hermann for believing in the work we do and for contributing so generously.
