Good day all.

As we are busy for a level 5 storm that is on the way, let me do a quick recap of the month of May 2026 at The Dignity Fund Garden Route NPC.

Soup Kitchens

In the 1st week after the storm we assisted with food via soup kitchens in the affected communities, three times a day. As the needs grew we made decision to rather assist with 2 meals per day. The number of people was 3 000 two times per day- 7 days per week. A total of 42 000 meals per week. As the power came restored the frequency has declined.

We had a total of 29 soup kitchens operating during this time. At the moment we have in two communities where the people still get food two times a day every day. Power has not been yet restored to Forrest View and Brackenhill communities.

The rest of the soup kitchens are operating now two to three times per week.

We operate solely on donations from the community. Just for our donors- we have spend nearly R300 000 on food and other assistance the past month.

Although our main focus the past month was the soup kitchens we were still operating our normal projects.

Fire survivors support
During May 2026 we provided support to survivors of 5 fires. We gave them Dignity Buckets- soap, vaseline, wash clothes, toothpaste, Toothbrushes, mens deodorant, ladies deodorant and sanitary products. Further more they were given clothing, bedding, a set of pots as well as crockery and cutlery.

Chrysalis Academy
During May we also supported at the end for 5 ladies to go to Chrysalis Academy for their final interviews. We are eagerly awaiting the news of how many were accepted.

Covie assistance
We are assisting the Covie Community with a further two more projects. Job creation- a group of residence has started a job creation project where they loom knit beanies for sale- we are eagerly awaiting the 1st stock for sale.

Twenty of the seniors in the community got together last week and formed a seniors club. We need coffee cups/ mugs etc for that club.

General
In general we have assisted more or less 100 people in two areas with warm clothing. We have also assisted with two other families who lost their homes during the flood. From furniture to clothing to every thing.

We would like to thank each and every for their support. Without you we can not do what we do.

As always we are in need of donors and sponsors to continue all our projects.

Thank you all for your support without your support we can not assist people in our communities to restore their dignity.
