Today at Tebelo Lighthouse: Cultivating an AI-first mindset

Our AI Entrepreneurship Training Programme is officially underway, and today’s session focused on helping participants develop an AI-first mindset.

The goal is not just to learn about AI, but to start thinking differently:
How can AI help us understand problems better?
How can it support better decision-making?
How can it help entrepreneurs plan, test, build, and launch faster?

This programme brings together entrepreneurship training and practical AI business creation, equipping women from Bitou with tools to start and grow ventures in a rapidly changing world.

Over the next few months, participants will work through business creation, problem discovery, customer thinking, AI tools, vibecoding, and practical business-building activities.

We are grateful to our partners and donors for making this opportunity possible, and proud to see this first cohort begin their journey.

Small hands, big curiosity 💻✨

Our Literacy Programme learners explore and play on Apple devices every week at our current training venue — Phase 1 of the Matter Innovation Hub.

This is what we want to grow: children learning through technology, creativity, play, and active participation.

Over the next few months, we plan to begin construction on two new Matter Innovation Hub classrooms and a Career Readiness Centre, helping us bring technology-assisted active learning (TEAL+) to more children and young people across Bitou.

We’re excited for what’s ahead — and grateful for every person and partner helping us build towards it.

A little Easter joy at Tebelo 🐣💛

A big thank you to the Kirsty Watts Foundation for helping make Easter extra special for the children in our Literacy Programme.

Through this generous donation, our learners enjoyed a fun Easter egg hunt, plenty of smiles, and a small moment of celebration together.

These moments matter. They remind our children that they are seen, loved, and supported by a wider community.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible — and especially to the Kirsty Watts Foundation for partnering with us in bringing joy to the children.

Learning at Tebelo is active, noisy, practical, and full of energy 💛

In our Literacy Programme, children don’t only sit and write. They move, answer questions, demonstrate, use worksheets, puzzles, pictures and group activities — because confidence grows when children are involved in the lesson.

And after learning, there’s lunch.

This week’s meal included pap with Chaya — a leafy green superfood that is naturally high in protein and a good source of calcium, iron, vitamins A and C, and antioxidants. It’s one of the ways we try to support both learning and nutrition.

At Tebelo, we believe children need more than a classroom. They need encouragement, good food, caring teachers, and a safe place to grow.

A new opportunity for women in Bitou to build businesses with AI.

Are you a woman with a business idea, side hustle, or dream to start something of your own?

Tebelo is launching an AI Entrepreneurship Training Programme at Tebelo Lighthouse in Plettenberg Bay.

You’ll learn:
- how to build a business (accredited New Venture Creation course from UXi )
- how to use AI tools (AI Startup Studio course)
- how to explore digital business ideas
- how to start creating with AI coding (vibecoding) - no coding experience needed

Who should apply?
Women in the Bitou area who are tech-savvy, entrepreneurial, and have access to their own computer.

Our kids were spoiled at last week - apart from being taught about Pickle Ball, they also received new school bags and shoes from our generous donors - what a nice reward for all their hard work this year!
