🌸 A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY! 🌸

What a wonderful morning! 💚 Our Spring Fun Walk last week Saturday was made extra special by the incredible people, businesses and organisations who continue to support PWP Neighbourhood Watch and the work we do in our community.

A very special thank you to:

Fundraising initiatives like these are only possible because of a community that gets behind us. Whether it’s sponsoring food, supporting an event, joining a patrol, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, every bit of support makes a difference.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to believe in what PWP Neighbourhood Watch is trying to achieve and who helps us keep our community connected, involved and safer. 🌷

🧹 ANOTHER WEEK. ANOTHER CLEAN-UP.

And while we are incredibly grateful to the PWP NHW volunteers who continue to get out there and do the work, we need to have an uncomfortable conversation.

This should not have to happen every week.

These clean-ups are not being organised by the Councillor. They are not being done by the City.

They are being done by ordinary residents who care enough to give up their time, get their hands dirty and take pride in where they live. ❤️

We also know that there are many residents who are not part of PWP Neighbourhood Watch who still report problems, assist where they can and do their bit for our community. We see you and we appreciate you. 💙

But there are also far too many people who see the problems around them and simply turn a blind eye.

We ask residents to do something very simple:

📞 Report problems to 021 480 7700 or
📱 Log a C3 through the City App or E-services website or
📧 Email the relevant department
📝 *Keep your reference number*
🔁 *Follow up when nothing happens*

And most importantly, take ownership of the issue you have reported.

If you see illegal dumping on your way home, don't just think “someone should report that.”

- You are someone. Report it

- If you see a problem that needs attention, don't assume somebody else has already logged it.

We cannot have a situation where the same few people are expected to patrol, report, follow up, organise clean-ups and physically clean up the mess week after week.

And please don't fall into the mindset of “Nothing ever happens, so why bother?”

Because if everyone stops bothering, nothing will happen.

You don't have to join NHW.
You don't have to spend hours volunteering.
You don't have to fix everything yourself.

But when you see something that isn't right, take a moment to do something about it.

- Report it.
- Follow it up.
- Hold the responsible people accountable.
- Don't turn a blind eye and leave it for the next person.

This is our neighbourhood, and keeping it safe, clean and cared for is a responsibility we all share. 💙

🚨 PWP NHW PATROL | HIT-AND-RUN INCIDENT 🚨

Our PWP NHW patrollers were out on patrol last night when they noticed a badly damaged vehicle travelling through the area with a flat front tyre.

Recognising that something was clearly not right, they quickly alerted the patrol group and asked that fellow patrollers and Armed Response teams to keep an eye out for any possible accident scene in the surrounding area.

Shortly afterwards, a serious accident was reported on Plattekloof Bridge, where a vehicle had rolled and the other vehicle involved had allegedly fled the scene.

Our patrollers continued tracking the damaged vehicle and together with the information being shared from responding Emergency Personnel teams that were already on site at the accident scene, it was established that the vehicle they had spotted was allegedly the same vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.

The current location information of the vehicle from our patrollers was relayed to the necessary law enforcement / emergency responders, who were already dealing with the accident and the relevant authorities then took over and dealt with the incident.

We are incredibly relieved to hear that the young woman involved in this accident survived the crash with no life threatening injuries.

👏 A massive thank you to our PWP NHW patrollers who give up their evenings and nights to be out there. As well as huge thank you to the Armed Response teams, Traffic Services and all other emergency responders who assisted in bringing the incident under control.

This is exactly what effective community safety looks like:

🏘️ OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS ALL OF US

Another Wednesday, another clean up. The pictures above were all taken today.

Our PWP patrollers and volunteers do a huge amount for our neighbourhood, *but we need to be honest: it cannot always be the same handful of people doing everything.

We need more residents to show a little more initiative, care and ownership of the areas around them.

If you see illegal dumping, litter, overgrown areas or another problem while you're out and about, please don't just drive past it.

📝 Keep your reference number and follow up if the problem hasn't been resolved.

And sometimes, if it's something small and safe to deal with ourselves, just pick it up and clean it up. You don't need a municipal reference number to pick up a piece of litter. 😉

Want to organise a bigger cleanup? Post in your Street Group or the Community Chat and see who else is willing to lend a hand.

The point is simple: don't wait for someone else to do it.

Our patrollers already give countless hours to keeping our neighbourhood safe. They cannot also be responsible for every piece of litter, every illegal dumping spot and every problem in our streets.

We REALLY NEED MORE residents to notice things, report them, follow up, get involved and take ownership.

This is our neighbourhood.

Let's start treating it like one. 💙

🚨 𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛-𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟 🚨

On Wednesday evening, members from PWP Neighbourhood Watch joined fellow patrollers from Monte Vista Plattekloof Glen Neighbourhood Watch , Edgemead Neighbourhood Watch , Bothasig Neighbourhood Watch and Tygerdal Neighbourhood Watch for a joint high-visibility white light patrol through Monte Vista accompanied by District Group.

It was great to see neighbouring watches working side-by-side, showing unity, support and a shared commitment to safer communities. Visibility matters and when multiple areas stand together, it sends a strong message that criminals are being watched from all angles. 👀🚔

A big thank you to every volunteer who gave up their time to take part. Community safety doesn’t happen by accident... it happens because ordinary residents step up and make a difference.
