SETTING NEW STANDARDS: BEYOND STEREOTYPES, STANDING IN PURPOSE

On 28 August 2026, Tzu Chi Student Society, in collaboration with CHASU, DSRA & ECRC, hosted a powerful dialogue creating space to challenge stereotypes, address emotional well-being, and promote safer, more compassionate campus communities.

Together, we stand in purpose and inspire change.

Pray for Nepal & Tibet
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1D13B113np/

Our hearts and prayers are with the people affected by the devastating flash floods along the Nepal–Tibet border.

Many lives have been lost, and hundreds remain missing. Please join us in prayer—for those who have lost their lives, those still missing and their families, and the rescuers working to reach those in need.

Our team in Nepal is coordinating with Tzu Chi’s headquarters to assess the situation and needs on the ground, while preparing to activate an emergency relief team.

May our prayers reach every person and family affected, and may they find strength and safety in the days ahead. 🙏

Different countries, one heart, one purpose. 🌍❤️

Our volunteers from Malawi, Zambia, and South Africa share a beautiful reminder: Dharma is love, and love is Dharma. Together, let’s spread love, compassion, and Dharma across Africa. 🙏✨

Cherish every grain of rice and every drop of water, for they are the fruits of countless people's hard work. 🌾💙

At the Africa Education Seminar, Tzu Chi volunteers demonstrated that gratitude is best expressed through action, by finishing every meal and leaving their dishes clean, they proudly shared one simple yet powerful message: Zero Waste!

Every meal is the result of the dedication and effort of many people. When we cherish our food, we show respect for those who grew it, prepared it, and served it, while also protecting our environment.

Together, let's cultivate gratitude, reduce food waste, and inspire others to make Zero Waste a way of life

African Youth Training - Hands-On Cooking Activity

As part of our African Youth Training homework, Tzu Chi volunteers and UKZN students came together on 28 May 2026 at the Tzu Chi Durban Centre to prepare simple, affordable, nutritious vegetarian meals.

The activity aimed to promote vegetarianism through hands-on cooking experiences, showing that healthy eating is not difficult and that plant-based meals can be both delicious and enjoyable.

After preparing the meals, we visited Makoya Female Residence, where we shared the food with students, introduced Tzu Chi and its mission of compassion and service, encouraged volunteerism, and promoted the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle.

Through cooking, sharing, and meaningful conversations, we helped spread the message that healthy food can be delicious too.

Congratulations to Qiniso Zwane!

The Tzu Chi Foundation proudly celebrates Qiniso Zwane for achieving 2nd Place in the Character Education Advocates Category at the International USA Character Education Lesson Plan Competition.

A passionate educator, researcher, and advocate for holistic education, Qiniso's award-winning lesson on Thankfulness encourages learners to recognise the blessings that surround them every day and to cultivate gratitude as a lifelong practice.

Through engaging stories, discussions, songs, and hands-on activities, learners are guided to appreciate the people, experiences, and opportunities that enrich their lives. His lesson, centered around The Gratitude Jar, inspires children to develop habits of thankfulness, reflection, and compassion.

Currently serving at the Tzu Chi Foundation Durban Branch, Qiniso holds a Master's degree in Education and is deeply committed to understanding and improving educational experiences within South African classrooms. He believes that education is not only about academic achievement but also about nurturing character, respect, gratitude, and compassion.

We are proud to celebrate this remarkable international achievement and the positive impact Qiniso continues to make through education and service.

🤍 "Education is not only about imparting knowledge but also about cultivating good character."

Congratulations to Meha Hurinanthan! 🎉

The Tzu Chi Foundation proudly celebrates Meha Hurinanthan, a dedicated Grade 6 educator from Durban, South Africa, for achieving 3rd Place in the Character Education Advocate Category at the International USA Character Education Lesson Plan Competition.

Through her inspiring lesson on Thankfulness, Meha encouraged young learners to recognise and appreciate the often overlooked helpers in their daily lives. Rooted in the spirit of Ubuntu - "I am because you are" her work beautifully demonstrates that character education goes beyond the classroom, nurturing gratitude, empathy, respect, and compassion.

As both an educator and a lifelong learner, Meha continues to inspire her students and community by showing that academic excellence and character development go hand in hand.

Your passion, dedication, and commitment to shaping future generations make us incredibly proud.

🤍 "Education is incomplete without character development."
