Isiseko Imara Re-building Firm Family Foundations

Isiseko Imara is a blend of both the South African Xhosa word for foundations “isiseko” and the East African kiSwahili word for firm “imara”. This unique name not only communicates our desire for building firm family foundations, but also represents the rich diversity of heritage and culture found within South Africa. A distinctive of Isiseko Imara’s approach is the desire to work alongside both l

ocal and foreign national communities within South Africa. Growing xenophobic attitudes and violence stand in the way, but we believe that an inclusive approach will enable communities to work together and learn from each other. We believe that in order to break the cycle of fatherlessness in South Africa, we need to reach the next generation of young men. Without a restoration of God’s heart and purpose for fatherhood, boys will continue to grow up without father-figures and young men will struggle to live up to their role as fathers. A radical change will require Biblical-sound and culturally sensitive resources, tools, knowledge and supportive relationship that will together enable young men to be active, present fathers who know their purpose and are able to provide for and protect their family.

We introduced Isiseko whole-life soccer coaching to Westville for 6-11 year olds.

Over the past two days, our focus extended beyond teaching ball control and long passes, to important life skills of self control and personal responsibility.

We appreciate the parent support and look forward to running more of these sessions.

Great to host Westville Boys' High School in the hood this afternoon to share some Easter love with so many easter eggs that will bring smiles in the 6 communities we serve.

KwaDabeka today was full of fun on the fields and at the homework center. Coaches Ntuthuko Luthuli and Mdu were great hosts. Thank you WBHS for your ongoing support!!

"Across time and place, cultures have inherently understood that without clear markers on the journey to manhood, males have a difficult time making the transition and can drift along indefinitely. Thus, rites of passage were clearly delineated in nearly every culture as one of the community's most important rituals" BRETT MCKAY.

PRINCIPLE:

Adolescent boys need to know they are being invited into a journey of growth and development out of childhood and into manhood. There needs to be a definitive break from normal life into liminal space where they can emerge and grow as men, John Tyson.

"We need to have a vision of the day our sons will leave our homes and work backward from that day with a plan to help them gain the knowledge, skills, character, and experiences they need. This will enable them to move into the world as confident and healthy men". Jon Tyson.

To win over the next generation of men, we need persistence and consistency. We should perceive them as prospective fathers, not just boys.

What type of men are they developing into, and how can we guide them to become good dads one day?

We take great pride in celebrating Esther's outstanding achievements, marked by six distinctions and a scholarship to study Computer Science at the University of Cape Town, as well as her courageous declaration of faith in Jesus Christ through baptism.

This morning marked a significant milestone as she took her first flight to Cape Town, via Johannesburg, to begin her academic pursuits. Throughout her journey, we have been privileged to witness her growth, and we are thrilled for her and her family.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our supporters who enable Isiseko Imara to support young individuals like Esther in realizing their potential and believing in a bright future.
