The celebration will bring together learners, educators, education leaders, corporate partners and ๐‘†๐‘๐‘–๐‘’๐‘›๐‘๐‘’2๐บ๐‘œ supporters to reflect on the journey so far, experience the 1,000th experiment in action, and look ahead to the future of practical science education.

We are honoured to be joined by key voices across education and industry, including Mrs B. Mahlambi, Umlazi District Director, Department of Education, who will speak on science education in South Africa; Mr Charles Barnes, Operations Director at MAHLE, who will share why business has a stake in science education; and Henre Benson, incoming Country Program Manager at VVOB South Africa and Vice-Chairperson of the CASME Board, who will guide parts of the programme and moderate the panel discussion.

CASME hosted a funded Departmental Heads Workshop at the Mandela Bay Provincial Teacher Development Institute in the Eastern Cape. Heads of Department explored curriculum management, lesson planning, assessment and ways to monitor and support teaching and learning in Mathematics and the Sciences.

This September, 42 learners took part in the 2026 Ford Motor Company STEM Competitions at the Nelson Mandela Provincial Teacher Development Institute in Nelson Mandela Bay. Grade 7 learners represented primary schools, while Grade 9 learners represented high schools.

The competitions covered Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Coding. In the preliminary rounds, learners tackled curriculum-based challenges that called for logical reasoning, computational thinking and practical problem-solving. Top-performing learners qualify for the final round, where they compete for recognition and awards. ๐Ÿ†

The CASME STEM Competitions encourage academic excellence, identify emerging talent and help learners see the possibilities that science and technology can open for their futures.
