The Labour and Civic Organization convened a strategic meeting with the various structures within the organization to strengthen unity, coordination, and the collective mission of advancing the rights and emancipation of South Africans.

The organization reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the fight for social justice, dignity, fair labour practices, and the empowerment of communities across the country. Together, we remain resolute, steadfast, and determined to continue the good fight for a better and more equitable South Africa for all.

Inhlangano iLabour and Civic Organisation (LACO) isiqaphele izinsolo ezinzima ezibhekiswe kuPhoenix Cash and Carry kulandela izikhalo eziningi ezitholwe kubasebenzi.

Lezi zikhalo zikhomba izinsolo zokuthi kunokuphathwa okungemthetho nokuxhashazwa kwabasebenzi, okubandakanya lokhu okulandelayo:

Ukukhokhelwa iholo eliphansi kakhulu elingaba ngu R9 ngehora, okuyiphutha elikhulu eliphula umthetho weholo eliphansi (minimum wage)

Izinsolo zokungalandelwa kwemithetho yokuqashwa, okubandakanya ukuqashwa kwabokufika abangekho emthethweni

Ukungalandelwa kwemithetho yezabasebenzi kanye nezimo zokusebenza ezingafanele

Akekho umsebenzi okufanele axhashazwe, futhi akukho mqashi ongaphezu komthetho!

The Labour And Civic Organisation (LACO) has taken note of serious allegations raised against Phoenix Cash and Carry following multiple complaints received from employees.

These complaints point to alleged unlawful and exploitative working conditions, including:

Payment of wages as low as R9 per hour, which constitutes a gross violation of minimum wage legislation

Allegations relating to irregular employment practices, including the employment of undocumented foreign nationals

General concerns regarding non-compliance with labour laws and fair working conditions

No worker should be exploited, no employer is above the Law!
