The Children in Distress Network (CINDI), founded in July 1996, is a multi-sectoral network of over 200 civil society organisations capable of implementing diverse, effective

and sustainable programmes for children and youth infected or affected by HIV & AIDS in the province of KZN. The vision of the organisation is to ensure children and caregivers access their constitutional rights through processes of collaboration leading to community driven action. They aim to achieve this by networking and capacity building contextually with the purpose of improving the lives of children, youth and their caregivers using methods that are child-centred and youth friendly. CINDI is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO) and public benefit organisation (PBO). CINDI has been implementing child and youth programmes through its CBO and NGO network members in KZN for the last 21 years. For the past two years, we have successfully implemented a young women and girls (YWG) programme in uMgungundlovu and eThekwini Districts, reaching a total of 10 000 YWG aged 10-24 years. This is being done through NGO and CBO partners with good track records of service delivery in both districts. We would like to encourage you to get involved in our projects. Donations, CSI funds and in-kind donations are all welcome and given CINDI’s PBO status, you will be provided with a tax exemption certificate

CINDI Members in Action πŸ’›
At the request of our CBO Members, we hosted a practical training session on: Child Abuse: Symptoms, Protection & Reporting

A heartfelt thank you to LifeLine Pietermaritzburg for facilitating this important conversation and equipping our members with practical tools to recognise abuse, act in the best interests of the child, and understand reporting pathways.

When community organisations are strengthened, children are safer.
This is what CINDI membership is about, listening, responding, and growing together.

πŸ“… Our next Member Meeting will take place in April / early May 2026. Please call us on 033 3457994 for further information and chat with Noma Mkhize who will guide you regarding Membership meetings or WA Rekha Nathoo on 0664207863.

2025 is here – so what does this mean?

In South Africa, kinship care is part of who we are β€” families and communities coming together to raise children in love, belonging, and connection.
