Today, Key Ministry International spent the day with parents from our Back to School programme.
These are families we’ve been supporting with school uniforms for their children, but today we gathered for something a little different.
We held a social cohesion workshop following the recent xenophobic events affecting our communities.
We had open conversations about what people have experienced, how these events affect families, and what it looks like to create communities where we can live together with dignity and respect.
And honestly, these are the conversations we need more of.
Because social cohesion isn’t just a big word.
It starts with sitting together, listening, understanding each other and choosing unity over division.

Empowering Young Men, Building Stronger Communities:

On the 21 August 2026, Key Ministry International (KMI) joined the Community Police Forum (CPF) and other community partners in Wartburg for a Boys’ Empowerment Workshop, reaching approximately 70 high-school boys.
The workshop created a safe and interactive space for young boys to reflect on fatherhood, positive masculinity, social challenges, responsibility and what it means to become a better man.
Heartline presented a short film exploring fathers, boys and social ills, followed by meaningful group discussions where the boys were encouraged to share their experiences and perspectives. KMI participated as facilitators, engaging directly with the young people throughout the sessions.
For KMI, empowering young people is an important part of building safer, more inclusive and cohesive communities. Through open conversations, mentorship and community engagement, we can encourage respect, empathy and positive leadership among the next generation.
Together, we can empower young people to become positive leaders and build communities rooted in respect, peace and unity. 🤝🏾🌍

To every refugee and migrant affected by xenophobia: we see your pain, we stand with you, and we pray for your healing.
Though many have lost homes, businesses, and a sense of safety, let us choose love over hatred, forgiveness over revenge, and peace over violence. Forgiveness does not erase the pain, it/ opens the way to healing.
Together, let us build relationships, promote peace, and work alongside our communities for justice, dignity, and reconciliation.

Recent unrest in Pietermaritzburg has left many refugee and migrant families without food, income, and a sense of safety. During this difficult time, Key Ministry International and Community leaders continues to stand alongside those in need with compassion and practical support.

Our Founder and Executive Director Bishop Samson Matabaro and Community leaders of different nationalities purchased food supplies and distributed to vulnerable refugee and migrant families affected by the unrest.
These actions reflect our mission of serving people with love, dignity, and hope.

Our team is preparing and distributing food parcels to families who need immediate support. Every parcel is a reminder that they are not alone.

We believe that kindness is stronger than fear and that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Key Ministry International through your prayers, donations, and encouragement. Together, we are bringing hope to families in need.

As supporters, funders and beneficiaries of the services provided by Key Ministries International in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, you may be aware of the escalating hostility towards migrants and refugees in the province.
We need your help. We need your prayers!

For Help contact the KMI office at 060 836 8854

We would like to provide care packs for at least 90 refugee households
(R750 per household), offer psycho-social support to children and families experiencing extreme trauma or PTSD (interim KMI hotline) and to ensure that those seeking repatriation are treated with dignity (onsite advocacy).

We applaud and appreciate persons and faith organizations who are responding to the desperate calls for help.
