Maritzburg College proudly congratulates Mr Grant Hooper (OC 1993) on his appointment as the 49th President of the Maritzburg College Old Boys Association (MCOBA).

An Old Collegian whose journey began in 1989, Mr Hooper embodies the values of integrity, humility, courage and brotherhood that define our school.

A respected leader, devoted family man and passionate supporter of the , Mr Hooper is committed to strengthening the ties between Old Collegians and ensuring that the spirit of College continues to flourish around the world.

Reflecting on his years at Maritzburg College, Mr Hooper says he is most grateful for one thing:- “Friendships.”

We wish Mr Hooper every success as he leads the MCOBA into this exciting new chapter.

Today we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers and father figures of our Maritzburg College Brotherhood – men who lead with integrity, serve with humility and inspire those around them.

This Father's Day, we pay special tribute to two Old Collegians who exemplify these qualities.

As Jon Hoatson (OC 1998) concludes two years of dedicated service as President of the Maritzburg College Old Boys' Association, we thank him for his outstanding leadership. Through his vision, commitment and steady guidance, the Association has grown from strength to strength. His tenure has seen renewed engagement across our global Old Boys' network, highlighted by two exceptional Reunion Weekends that brought generations of Old Collegians back together and strengthened the bonds of brotherhood.

Following this week's AGM, we also congratulate Grant Hooper (OC 1993) as he begins his term as President. We wish Grant every success as he builds on these strong foundations and leads the Association into its next chapter.

To Jon, Grant, and every father in our Maritzburg College family – thank you for the example you set, the values you pass on, and the legacy you leave for future generations.

YOUTH DAY 2026

Every Old Collegian was once a College boy.

Just a few weeks ago, Reunion 2026 brought together Old Collegians from the Classes of 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016.

Separated by decades, united by Maritzburg College.

These photographs are a reminder that while the years pass and life takes us in different directions, the friendships, memories and values formed during our youth often remain with us for a lifetime.

Youth Day is not only about celebrating the young people of today. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the journeys that began in our school years and the lasting impact they have on who we become.

To today's Maritzburg College boys: embrace the opportunities before you, value your friendships and make the most of every moment. One day, you too will return and realise just how important these years were.

The faces change.

The bonds of brotherhood remains.

A reminder to all Old Collegians that the Maritzburg College Old Boys' Association Annual General Meeting will take place at 17:30 on Thursday, 18 June 2026.

All Old Collegians are warmly invited to attend, either in person at the Maritzburg College Boardroom or online via Microsoft Teams.

By completing the RSVP form below, you can:
✅ RSVP for attendance (in person or online)
✅ Submit nominations for the Executive Committee
✅ Request supporting documentation
✅ Receive the Microsoft Teams link for virtual attendance

We encourage all Old Collegians to participate as we reflect on the past year, review the Association's activities, and look ahead to the future of MCOBA.
