R50, 000 pledge to CANSA Care Home by Community Chest

For the 2026/27 financial year, the Pietermaritzburg & District Community Chest has pledged R50 000 in support of CANSA’s new Care Home in Hayfields; a sanctuary that provides accommodation for out-of-town cancer patients whilst receiving treatment at one of our local public hospitals.

At this home-from-home facility, may spend up to six weeks and receive meals and transport to and from the treatment centres.

As the Community Chest we call on businesses, private donors, and workplace employees to partner with us to achieve this goal. Every contribution will help ensure that vulnerable cancer patients have a safe place to stay, access to treatment, and the dignity and support they deserve.

KZN Wheels & Runners Club hosts Inspiring Second Marathon to Celebrate Ability and Inclusion

Empowered and happy race winners together with representatives of Edendale Mall at the Prizegiving

Community Chest proudly celebrates the success of the 2nd annual KZN Wheels Marathon, held on 10 October 2026, which saw participants journey from the Pietermaritzburg City Hall to Edendale Mall in a remarkable display of determination, unity, & inclusion.

The event brought together wheelchair users and individuals living with various disabilities, alongside supporters, volunteers, and community members. More than just a marathon, the event served as a powerful platform to raise awareness about the importance of recognizing ability over disability and fostering a more inclusive society.

Participants demonstrated extraordinary resilience and spirit throughout the route, inspiring spectators and reinforcing the message that disability should never define a person's potential or contribution to society
As a valued impact partner with the Community Chest, KZN Wheels continues to create opportunities that empower persons with disabilities while promoting dignity, independence, and social inclusion. The marathon highlighted the Organization's ongoing commitment to advocacy & community engagement.

In added support to the event, we hosted a refreshment station with the assistance of the Comrades Marathon Association and Fresh Simplicity as sponsors.

AET & MNA lead the pack for the Chest’s 2026 Remarkable Man Golf Day

This year, Community Chest’s annual Remarkable Man Golf Day is proudly powered jointly by AET Security & Makhoastse Narasimulu & Associates.

The event is scheduled for Friday, 6 November 2026, at the Maritzburg Golf Club.

This special event will bring together business leaders, golfers, sponsors, and community members in support of men's health awareness and the fight against prostate cancer.

Over the years, the Remarkable Man Golf Day has become a meaningful platform for raising awareness about the health challenges faced by men while generating much-needed support for initiatives that assist individuals and families affected by illness and hardship. By combining sport, community spirit, and philanthropy, the event aims to encourage important conversations around men's health and early detection of prostate cancer.
